Adverb Clauses (aka, www.asia.buuba) (With me, Mrs. Cannon)
![Page 2: Fundamentals Writing and Literature Adverb Clause Presentation](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546c1b9daf7959680e8b5765/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Adverb clauses begin with one of the following words:
When
Where
As
While
Since
If
Although
Unless
Because
Until
Before
After

We call it www.asia.buuba because that is what the first letter of each word would
spell out if we were to make it an acronym.
When
Where
As
While
Since
If

Unless
Because

We use adverb clauses all of the
time. For example… After school, I want to buy a
coffee at Starbucks.
![Page 5: Fundamentals Writing and Literature Adverb Clause Presentation](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546c1b9daf7959680e8b5765/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
After is one of the words in
www.asia.buuba, so it is an adverb clause.
After school, I want to buy a
coffee at Starbucks.
![Page 6: Fundamentals Writing and Literature Adverb Clause Presentation](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022061120/546c1b9daf7959680e8b5765/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Remember, since it is a clause, we have to join it to a sentence. Otherwise, it does not make sense.
After school.

Here is another example… I should buy a
scone while I am there.

While is on our list, so it is an
adverb clause. I should buy a scone while I am there.

Even though “I am there” is a sentence by itself, it still needs
to be joined to a sentence if we use
“while.”
While I am there.
