Functions of Cell Organelles
1. nucleus - controls all cell activities
2. endoplasmic reticulum - (ER)network of passageways, carries materials within cell
3. golgi body - receives materials from ER, packages and sends the materials to other parts of the cell. Also releases materials to outside of cell.
4. cell membrane - forms a barrier between the cytoplasm and the environment. Controls what enters and leaves the cell.
5. vacuoles - store food, water, waste and other materials. Most plant cells have one large vacuole.
6. lysosomes - small organelles that digest food particles and worn-out cell parts.
7. mitochondria – produce the cell’s energy
8. cytoplasm – gel-like fluid in which the organelles are found
9. ribosomes – produce proteins. May be attached to ER.
10. chromosomes – the instructions for all cell activities
Summary Cell organelles each have…
Organelles work together to…
The chromosomes…
Some differences between plant and animal cells include…
Plant Cell differences.Plant cells have a cell wall. (like
our bones)Plant cells have one large
vacuole. Plant cells have chloroplasts.
