About the Composer - - -

Craig Fitzpatrick holds a Bachelor of Music degree in composition fromBradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he studied composition withStephen Heinemann. He obtained his Masters in Music Composition in 2003from the University of Illinois in Champaign. While there, he studiedcomposition under Stephen Taylor and Rick Taube and also served as ateaching assistant, instructing undergraduate theory and ear-training courses.Since then Mr. Fitzpatrick has had the opportunity to work closely with Jack

Stamp, David Maslanka, and David Holsinger.

In 2001, Fitzpatrick won the Creative Division of the Bradley University Research and CreativeAchievement Exhibition with Subliminal Designs, a composition designed using music notationthrough alternative visual representations. He was also a finalist in the ASCAP FoundationMorton Gould Young Composer Awards in 2001 and 2003. In 2005, Mr. Fitzpatrick was chosenas a participant in the National Band Association's Young Composer Mentor Projectsponsored by Bands of America. He was also a Finalist in the 2nd International Frank TicheliComposition Contest with his work “Re-Connected” for wind ensemble. Mr. Fitzpatrick hasbeen commissioned to write concert band literature for various jr. high, high schools, communitybands, and universities. His compositions for band, orchestra, choir, soloists, and smallensembles have been performed across the country.

Since 2001, Fitzpatrick has arranged music and written drill for competitive high schoolmarching bands across the country. His clients have been State Class Champions,Band of America (BOA) Super Regional Finalists, BOA Grand National Semi-Finalists, andBOA Super Regional Class Champions. Additionally, Mr. Fitzpatrick has served as a marchingband adjudicator throughout the Midwest. He marched with the Cavaliers Drum and BugleCorps baritone line in 1998 and worked with the Cavaliers brass staff.in 2001. He has taughtbrass and arranged for Morton High School, who have been named the 2005 through 2012class 2A Illinois State Champions. Mr. Fitzpatrick also maintains an extensive private brassstudio, teaching trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba lessons to students of allages. His students regularly attend the IMEA district and state festivals in the orchestral, jazz, andband divisions.

Mr. Fitzpatrick studied trombone with Hugo Magliocco at Bradley University and ElliotChasanov at the University of Illinois. He currently performs with the Prairie Wind Ensemble,and resides in Morton, Illinois with his wife, Katrina.
