In celebration of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2016, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi calls on the Bayanihan Council's support to the prevention and eradication of trafficking in persons.

The Embassy requests the Bayanihan Executive Committee to review the attached draft entitled "Bayanihan Council Declaration Against Human Trafficking in Celebration of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2016". The final Declaration will be signed during the Bayanihan meeting scheduled on 12 August 2016 (Friday) at the Philippine Embassy.

As such, the Embassy further requests the presence of Presidents/Chairmen of all member-organizations under the Bayanihan Council for the signing of the said Declaration on August 12 at the sidelines of the Bayanihan Council meeting.

AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING

IN CELEBRATION OF WORLD DAY AGAINST

TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS 2016

WE, the member-organizations of the 8ayanihan Council, the umbrella organization of all Filipino groups and associations accredited to the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates,

RECOGNIZING that trafficking in persons is a global problem, a violation of fundamental human rights , and a crime against the individual and the State;

ACKNOWLEDGING the significance of community awareness and support to the prevention and eradication of trafficking in persons;

DECLARING that effective actions to prevent and combat trafficking in persons include measures to prevent trafficking, to punish traffickers, and to protect the victims of such trafficking;

HEREBY DECLARE, in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi , to commit to the following :

1. To make ourselves familiar with anti-trafficking laws in the Philippines, United Arab Emirates, United Nations, and other international organizations;

2. To intensify efforts in reaching out to as many Overseas Filipinos to raise awareness on the issue and to adopt good practices to prevent and combat trafficking in persons;

3. To report to the Philippine Embassy or local authorities possible/alleged cases of human trafficking;

4 . To extend assistance to victims of human trafficking, consistent with the UAE's national laws and policies;

5. To support the programs and projects of the Philippine Embassy, other government agencies and law enforcement authorities, both in the Philippines and the UAE, in the fight against human trafficking.
