100WHF: By royal appointment 100 Women in Hedge Funds is cranking up a new initiative to put its members on the boards of non-profit organisations. The global association has more than 13,000 female members, many of whom have professional qualifications. 100WHF’s Fiona Macpherson, who is leading the initiative in the UK, tells City Insider: “We’ve got lots of senior women who are an untapped rich seam of talent across multiple skills.” • 100WHF matches up its members with charities in need of board members. Members can use their day-job skills to help causes they feel passionately about, while gaining valuable board experience. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry are patrons of 100WHF, which has raised more than $36m in the past 13 years. Initially it is working with the boards of organisations in the The Charities Forum — a group of more than 30 charities supported by the Cambridges. So far 100WHF has put its members on the boards of charities including The Art Room, WellChild and SkillForce. Commendable stuff.
