Course ContentDuring this course you will:

• Explore strategies to assist in overcoming limiting beliefs

• Set goals for personal and work purposes

• Learn about employer and employee expectations

• Learn about what makes a good resume and cover letter

• Develop effective interview and job seeking skills

• Read and complete basic workplace documents and forms

• Read and understand workplace signs and symbols

Course outcomes• Statement of attainment for successful completion of units of competency

• Improved self-awareness and understanding of the jobs that best suit you

• Greater self confidence in approaching employers and applying for jobs

• Improved employability and job readiness for ongoing employment

• Skills in completing workplace documents and understanding workplace information

EligibilityIn order to be eligible for Skills First, Victorian Government funded education, you must be one of:

• an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident (holder of a permanent visa)

• a New Zealand citizen (holder of a current New Zealand passport)

• an Asylum Seeker holder of a current VISA Class E (BVE), Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) or Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (as verified via the Commonwealth Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) with study rights)

AND

• not enrolled in secondary school, including: House Schooling, VCE and VCAL delivered at TAFE and other RTOs

• not enrolled in the Commonwealth Government’s Skills for Education and Employment program

• not have completed an Australian qualification at Diploma level or above

Please note: If under 17 years of age and disengaged from school, participants will need to obtain an official Transition from School Form for us to sight.

About the course

• 12 day course, 11 units of competency • Builds on essential soft skills and creates a framework for behavioural change • Improves confidence, motivation, communication skills, emotional intelligence, integrity, health and

well-being • Improves employability and job readiness • Improves workplace English language, literacy and numeracy skills

Eligibility
