Christmas Cantata Rehearsal

This year, the Chancel Choir will present Jesus!: The Advent of the Messiah during a

combined, 10:30 worship service on December 18th. Rehearsals have already begun. Our

Wednesday evening rehearsal schedule begins with the regular weekly practice from 7:00 to

7:30. Christmas Cantata practice begins at 7:30 and runs until 8:15. We welcome all singers

to join us in preparation for the Christmas season, even if you only want to sing with us for

the cantata. If you have questions, please contact Debi Beachy at [email protected] or

College Gift Cards - This year, we will be sending gift cards to our

college students as a way to let them know we are thinking about them and

praying for them. An updated list of student names and addresses is

needed. If you have a student in college who would appreciate receiving a

gift card, please contact the office ([email protected] –or- 301-689-

6626) by November 18th with names and addresses. Even if you gave the information in the past;

it is important to contact the church with the student’s name and current address. If you would

like to help out with this project, donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Becky Baker – project chair

Safe & Snug 2016 Coat Drive. The ACDSS will be accepting new coats and monetary

donations from September 26th - October 31st. Please bring coats to the rear of the fellowship hall – leave all of the tags (with exception of price tags) on the coats. Please see Tony Crosby for more details on how you can help. Let’s keep the kids of Allegany County warm this winter!

This Week…

~The Helen Lehr Circle will meet at the church on Monday, October 10th, at 6:30PM.

~The 2016 session of Charge Conference will be held at the church on Tuesday, October

11th, at 7:30PM. LaVale UMC will be joining us in conference.

~A Law Enforcement Appreciation Service will be held for all

area churches at LaVale Baptist Church (National Hwy. LaVale) on

Saturday, October 15th, at 2PM. A time of prayer and appreciation will be followed by a

reception in the church fellowship hall. Please contact LaVale Baptist for more information.

Looking Ahead…

~On October 16th, there will be a silent auction held for the sofa that is currently in the

fellowship hall. If you are interested in purchasing this sofa, please place your bid amount,

name, and phone number on the index card that is available in the fellowship hall (cards &

envelopes are on the sofa).

~A Trustees Meeting will be held at the church on Monday, October 17th, beginning at

6:30PM.

~The SPRC will meet in the church office meeting room on Tuesday, October 18th, at

6:00PM.

~The church trustees have declared Saturday, October 22nd, as “De-Clutter Day” at the

church! Please join us as we straighten up and declutter the upstairs office & Sunday School

room, organize the kitchen and the cabinets in the fellowship hall, as well as clean out the

boiler room and youth room (boy scout items) in the basement.

Dave Fell is leading a study group of Adam Hamilton’s Half Truths: God Helps Those

Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say. This group will meet on

Mondays (for 5 weeks) at 7PM in Room #3 at the church. Next meeting is October 17th.

The “Daniel” Bible study group continues to meet at the home of Dot Workman each

Wednesday afternoon at 1PM.

Youth Group Time Change - unless otherwise noted,we will

meet every Sunday from 6 – 7:30PM. Pizza will typically be provided, however, if you would like to provide dinner for our youth group one Sunday evening, please contact Pastor Kyle.

fellowship hall on Sunday, October 30th, from 6-8PM. Join us for food, fun, games, and a costume contest. If you would like to donate candy, please purchase bags of individually-wrapped candy and place in the fellowship hall.
