Why LED?LED lighting has a lifetime of up to 10 years and consumes 70% less electricity. LED lighting cuts energy, maintenance and replacement costs over the 10 year lifetime of the light unit. There are no moving parts and no toxic materials – all Frontline LED lights are recyclable.

What about Lumen output?What about Lumen output?The comparison of LED with lumen output only tells part of the story - LED is a revolution in lighting that takes electronics and makes it a replacement for conventional lighting technology. LED light is focused and has little or no wasted lumen through reflector loss.

Advantages of white light:White light is more natural to the human eye. It doesn’t glare and there is no colour distortion on CCTV images.

LED: Complete LightThe rods and cones in the human eye are sensitive to light generated around 507nm (scotopic) and 555nm (photopic).

Photopic lumens’ are lumens from a light source as measured by a light meter. A typical light meter is most sensitive to the yellow-green light meter. A typical light meter is most sensitive to the yellow-green end of the spectrum. This is seen by the cone receptors in the eye, or photopic vision.

The rod receptors in the eye also receive light, scotopic vision. This light, from the blue end of the spectrum, is excluded by the typical light meter. Conventional lighting only emitting light visible by the photopic vision. LED light is both scotopic and photopic – hence the amount of visible lumens in an LED is greater and more suited to human vision at night time.
