"Front Side of the Seiden (Main Hall) of Shurijo Castle (Paid Area) Work Schedule for Lacquer

Recoating," the schedule dates of commencement and completion of the front side of the Seiden

(Main Hall) has been determined.

Expected Duration of Work Schedule: April 3rd, 2017 through end of December 2017

While work is going on in the front side of the Shurijo Castle Seiden, it is expected that scaffolding

and protective sheets will make it difficult to view the front of the Seiden.

We plan to use transparent sheets for covering the work area so that visitors who come to the

park while work such as lacquer recoating for the front side of Shurijo Castle is being performed can see what is going on. (However, depending on the lacquer application process, the work area may sometimes be covered with a white cloth for protection from ultraviolet rays and for temperature and humidity adjustments.)

We apologize for causing great inconvenience to anyone visiting the park, but we ask for your

understanding and cooperation, as the work is important for keeping the Shurijo Castle Seiden

attractive by protecting its “vermillion” color, among other things.

Work Schedule for Lacquer Coating Repair, etc. of the Outer Side of Shurijo Castle Seiden (FY2016 to FY2018)

We have planned to perform such work as recoating of lacquer for the outer side of the Shurijo Castle Seiden over a three-year period that has started in FY2016. We intend to start working on the front side of the Shurijo Castle Seiden on April 3rd.

Services available during the period of such work as lacquer coating repair for the front side of the Shurijo Castle Seiden (tentative)

① Lacquer recoating work introduction movie (1st floor of Nanden/Bandokoro) We will broadcast the movie about the lacquer recoating of the Seiden that was done previously in the paid area. The movie will be played in Japanese with English, Chinese and Korean subtitles.

② Explanation about the lacquer recoating work (1st floor of Nanden/Bandokoro) Panels that shows the process of the lacquer recoating work (includes explanation of the ingredients and detailed explanation for each process step) will be displayed.

③ Shurijo Castle Seiden image download service (Una Plaza, 1st floor of Nanden Hall and 1st floor of Seiden) Images of the Seiden can be downloaded using the QR code displayed on the work explanation signboard that will be set up in the paid area (Una Plaza, 1st floor of Nanden Hall and 1st floor of Seiden). Note: A communication fee may be charged separately
