Process of my front cover

To create my own front cover I used these two images as guide for my models so they get an understanding of what kind of pose they should do while I was taking pictures. Also after analysing these two images I was able to understand how I should set my texts composition or what colour scheme I should use. Through this I can understand that I would have to use bright colours text also I have to make my models wear fashionable outfits which can attract the reader’s attention on reading my K-pop magazine.

Firstly, I opened up Photoshop then I selected the image I wanted to use for my front cover, I then used the ‘crop’ tool to select the correct size of image I wanted. After that, I used 'Magic Eraser Tool' to try to remove as much green screen as possible. Afterwards, I used 'Eraser Tool' to erase the remaining green screen which was left in the background.

I think the hardest part was when I had to remove the green from my model’s hair strand and in-between their hair. To do that, I had to zoom really into the image to capture the green and sometimes when I tried to erase them; it would look weird after I had zoomed out. So I had to be really careful when I was removing the green from the hair. Also, I used the ‘soft tool’ to soften the hard edges which was created when I was using eraser to rub off the green. When I had finished

removing all of the green screen background, I selected the image and then opened it in an 'International Paper' on A4 size paper then I

pasted the image on there.

After pasting the image onto ‘International Paper’ I selected a colour for the background which was suitable for my magazine. For my background, I didn’t pick a colour which was too bright because otherwise, it would have been difficult to make my texts stand out. Therefore, I chose a colour which wasn’t too dull or bright. My initial idea of my front cover was to have a solo shot of my model sitting down but I changed my idea since my magazine is a K-POP magazine and in Korean girl groups there are usually two and more members. That’s why, I wanted to portray that idea and I decided to use two models- Bini and Rushali.

As I wanted to attract my reader’s attention, I decided to place my image at the centre of the magazine to show the audiences that they are the main focus of this issue’s magazine and that the spotlight is only on the models. Except for removing the green screen from the background I did not had to do much editing on the image due to the high quality of camera I used so with just few level changes of brightness and contrasts did the job. Also as my models wearing makeup, this meant that I did not have to do any touch up in Photoshop since makeup plays a big part in K-pop music.

I put my masthead at the top of the magazine because I wanted my audience to know easily what the magazine name is. Also, I have used colourful colours and bold text in caps lock because I wanted to emphasise the importance in that particular texts. As well as, I put drop shadow in all of my texts so that they all

could stand out and look 3 dimensions which could help to get the reader’s attention due to the text being emphasised.

I have put the ‘EXCLUSE! DYANMIC DUO’ text on the right hand side, which is on top of the model so that it is easier for the audience to see what, is provided inside the magazine. Also, the colours I have used in those texts are different compare to other texts on the left hand side because I wanted to emphasise who I was talking about. I have included some of the most popular Korean artists in my front cover because fans get excited and want to buy anything which includes their favourite singers, so using popular singer’s name is one of the easiest ways to attract readers which helps to make

more profit.

The texts which says ‘SEOUL SOUND’ and ‘DYNAMIC DUO’ those fonts which I used, they are downloaded off from the website DAFONT. The reason why I picked those specific fonts was because they were suitable yet funky and it

matches which K-POP so that’s why I used them.
