Girls and Science are a great mix!

This Monday, Year five and six girls were lucky to attend a very special Science excursion at Footscray City College. We listened to a fascinating presentation by Dr Joanne Britto, a Senior Research Officer with The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. She explained her journey into science, and her passion for Brain Research. She encouraged the girls to consider science as option for the fu-ture. They then ventured into the high school science labs, donned their white coats, and got involved in some great hands on experiments. Helping them were members of the girls science club from Footscray City College. A special thanks to the staff at Footscray City College for hosting this terrific day providing our bus, and opening our minds up to the wonderful world of science.

Trivia Night Q&A

How much are tickets to the trivia night?

Tickets cost $25 per head. They are sold as tables of 12 for a total cost of $300

Please note: we have a very limited number of 10 seat tables available also. Once sold however, no more will be allo-

cated.

How may I purchase tickets?

Tickets may be purchased at the school office during office hours, 8.30am – 4.00pm. Unlike in previous years however,

tables cannot be reserved and then paid off by individual patrons. Last year, this resulted in empty seats at some tables

despite the event being technically “sold out” and others being turned away. To minimize disappointment and ensure

maximum capacity, full tables must be paid for by the table organizer at the time of purchase.

May I purchase individual tickets?

We have a limited number of “meet and greet” tables set aside for those who cannot make up a full table. These tickets

may be purchased individually and will be allocated seating on a “first come first served” basis.

May I purchase tickets at the door?

No, tickets must be pre-purchased through the school office during office hours.

When and how are the tables allocated?

At the time of purchase, the table organizer may refer to the floor plan and choose a table from those still available. Ta-

bles of 10 and 12 are situated on the floor plan in such a way as to provide maximum room capacity and cannot be

changed.

Please note that 4 front row tables will need to be collapsed upon completion of the trivia to make space for the dance

floor. These will be clearly marked on the floor plan.

Do I have to dress up in 1980’s clothing?

No not at all. A fancy dress night is a fun way to “break the ice” with strangers, have a laugh and start the conversations

rolling. However, it is not compulsory. Please dress however you feel most comfortable.

May I bring my own alcohol?

No, BYO alcohol is not permitted. Full bar service is available on the night. Please note that our liquor license is from

6.30pm till midnight within the school hall premises. Alcohol is not permitted to be consumed outside of the hall.

Will there be food provided?

All food is BYO and is to be supplied by patrons.

May I use my iphone to search for answers to trivia questions?

No, that would be cheating! Teams caught cheating will be disqualified for that round. Remember, it’s not whether you

win, but how you play the game that counts.

Will there be other fundraising activities during the night?

Yes, there will be a raffle and major item auction so please bring your wallet. All funds raised on the night go towards

improving Wembley’s facilities and enhancing the overall school experience for your child.

Will there be dancing?

Absolutely, so wear your dancing shoes! Upon completion of the trivia rounds, 4 tables will be collapsed to make room

for a dance floor. These tables are clearly marked on the floor plan.

What time does the evening end?

The dancing will continue until 12.30am. We ask that you try to be as quiet as you can upon leaving the premises as we

are situated in a residential area.

Will I have a good time?

You bet you will!!

DONATIONS NEEDED!

Dear Parents,

The Wembley Primary School Trivia Night is a mere 4 weeks away! It will be held in the school

hall on Saturday, August 31 and with your support will be a great success.

The very funny and talented Rusty Berther will once again MC the night with his own particular

brand of trivia, humour and song. To add an extra element of fun to this year’s proceedings, the

night will be 1980’s themed. So dig out those leg warmers, tease your hair and practice the

Moonwalk for what will no doubt be a night to remember!

Of course, the Trivia Night is also one of our major school fundraisers and to this end we need

your help. As part of the Trivia Night festivities we will be holding a raffle and major auction. If

you have a business or know of anyone willing to support your child’s school with a donation of

cash, goods or services, we would be especially grateful. In return for your valued support, we

will advertise your business name, logo and details through:

A sponsorship board displayed on the night and in the school foyer after the event;

A visual presentation of sponsors between trivia rounds: and

A listing of sponsors on the Wembley School Newsletter and website.

This advertising will provide your business with significant exposure both within the school and

the extended local community.

Any items that you collect may be left at the Office with the form below.

Please understand that no donation is too small and any support you can offer the Wembley Com-

munity will be truly appreciated. Together we can make the 2013 Wembley Primary Trivia Night

a tremendous success!

Many thanks,

The Wembley Primary School Fundraising Committee ……………………………………………………………………………………………………..………………………
