Dear Parents and Caregivers, Car Parking Short Term Changes Over the School Holidays work has commenced on the development of a staff carpark. The purpose of the staff carpark is to ensure that street access to the school is available for parents during pick up and drop off. The estimated time of completion is 6-8 weeks. A temporary car park area has been established for staff between the Admin Block and A Block. Large fencing has been erected in this area to maximise safety to students and parents entering and exiting the school. We know this will change routines for the best part of this term. And we appreciate your support for this short term disruption. Performing Arts This term will see a focus on the Arts at Dakabin State School. Our Senior Choir is entered in the Pine Rivers Show school’s competition on Friday 4 of August. We wish them all the best. Senior Choir has started at the new time of Thursday second break to allow greater access for students to attend. Mrs Beilby reports that numbers this week have grown significantly. On Monday 7th of August our Wakakirri Dance team will complete in the regional competition at the Caloundra Civic Centre. We are looking forward to a wonderful evening with them. On Tuesday 15 August we will be holding our annual Performing Arts night. Our choirs and instrumental students will be showcasing their talents. All families are welcome to attend. It is a great chance to see some of our programs in action. Even if your child isn't in the performances, it is a wonderfully entertaining night. Before School Routines As we head into the new Semester, I would like to remind parents and in turn students of the before school routines. • 7:45am—Running Club on the Oval • Students who arrive at school before 8:00am need to wait on the seats outside the

tuckshop for the admin member to come through. • All Year 1 to Year 6 students must go to the hall before school. They are not to wait

outside classrooms. Being On Time are talking with our students about being on time. Punctuality is a life skill based on “Being Respectful”. It is very important that our students are on time for school and ready for learning. The morning routine in classrooms is very important in setting our children on a successful path for the day. It can be very unsettling for children when they are late. Your assistance in making sure your children are on time to school would be much appreciated. Have a great weekend!

What do you know about Outside School Hours Care? YMCA Dakabin OSHC opens early in the morning at 6am. We run activities, have break-fast that the children can help prepare them-selves, and go outside for play! The children are close to the hall and they leave the service and go straight to their teachers. During after school care we meet all our children in the undercover area. We have a lovely afternoon tea meal and then break off into craft activities, indoor play and outdoor activities. We currently have really busy afternoons so if you would like to find out more please email, call or pop in and meet the team! We close at 6pm daily.
