After six years of Catholic Education and for many others it is actually thirteen years, what impact will this have on their lives? We at Trinity are committed to our dual moral purpose of making Jesus known and loved, while at the same time ensuring that every student receives the very best education possible. These two core values underpin all that we do; education alone does not make for a good person, but education in the context of a Catholic faith brings with it a commitment to justice, equity, fairness and service. The Israeli educational psychologist Haim Ginott writes about a letter that teachers would receive from their Principal each year: “I am a survivor of a concentration camp. My eyes saw what no person should witness: gas chambers built by learned engineers. Children poisoned by educated physicians. Infants killed by trained nurses. Women and babies shot by high school and college graduates. So, I am suspicious of education. My request is this: Help your children become human. Your efforts must never produce learned monsters, skilled psychopaths or educated Eichmanns. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are important only if they serve to make our children more human.” It is my great hope that our Trinity graduates become more than educational success stories, I hope that through their years in Catholic Education that they will reach beyond their potential in every area of endeavour and at the heart of their lives will be a deep desire to make a difference in our world and to the people they meet, in the prophetic words of St. Teresa of Calcutta; “At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by, "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.” HSC Best Wishes and Revision Opportunities As our Year 12 students prepare to graduate next week, I would like to assure them of my prayers and best wishes for their study and HSC examinations over the coming weeks. I am very proud of each and every member of Year 12 and tremendously impressed by their commitment to their personal best and to helping each other to achieve their best too. This group of young people care deeply for each other and for the good of others, they demonstrate what it is to be a young man or woman of Trinity Catholic College, and we have every faith in their determination to prepare for their exams with dedication, a healthy balance and in collaboration with others. I would also like to advise parents that the College Study Centre will be open each week day throughout the holidays to give our HSC students an opportunity for supervised personal study. In addition, many teachers will be offering HSC revision classes as well. I encourage our Year 12 students to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities and sincerely thank the staff who are able to volunteer their time to these programs for their generous support. Preparing for Term 4 School resumes on Tuesday, October 16, the staff will resume on Monday and will be involved in a Staff Development Day on maximising learning growth for every student in their care. Students are to return to school in full summer uniform. lost will need to be made up by the student after school. I havedirected our Campus Coordinators and Pastoral Coordinatorsnot to return calls and emails from parents who wish tochallenge this direction.

In setting high standards, we have the overwhelming supportof the parent body, who continually tell us that one of thereasons that they sent their child to Trinity was because ofour high standards and expectations. With the interests of yourchildren and the Trinity community at heart, we will maintainthese expectations and high standards.

Semester 2 Wet & Wild Day (Years 9 & 10)

We know from research and experience that school attendanceis a critical factor to doing well at school. As simple strategywe use at Trinity to encourage school attendance is to takestudents from Years 9 and 10 with “0” absences to Wet andWild as a reward, and students with an attendance rate of 97% and above will also go into a draw for available spaces.

Trinity High Flyers Award

We are always looking to opportunities to acknowledgestudents and along with our recently launched Awards system,we have developed a Trinity High Flyer Award to recognisestudents who achieve great things, both within and outsideof school. We would like to do this to recognise and build on aculture of high standards and achievement in all aspects of ayoung person’s life.

If your child has attained a significant achievement, pleaseemail [email protected] with a brief overviewof your child’s achievement so that it can be acknowledgedand celebrated in our Newsletter.

In advance, we thank parents for paying punctually. Schoolfees and levies allow the school to provide the rich and variedprograms, resources and excursions the children benefit fromenormously and it is important that school fees are paidconsistently. School fees are required to be paid in full foreach year and finalised by end of Term 3. Thank you to theconsiderable number of parents who have already paid theirannual fees in full. We recommend that parents make regularand ongoing payments (either weekly, fortnightly or monthly) toavoid school debt becoming large and unwieldy.

Please note, that payment plans can be arranged for eachindividual family, to ensure that school fees are completed ontime. Further, we urge families to contact the school if you areever experiencing genuine financial hardship. To discuss yourschool fees further, please contact Ms Adam at our Auburnoffice on 9749 1919 or mobile number 0402 991 026.
