5 National Conference 'Quest–2018'th

“Skilling India & Entrepreneurship Development”

on 7 & 8 February 2018th th

Navsahyadri Group of Institutes – Faculty ofManagement has organised 5 national conferenceth

Quest 2018 on 7 & 8 February 2018. In the last 4th th

years, Navsahayadri Institute has put all the hardefforts in not only highlighting the contemporaryIssues of Business world, but also, with the help ofexperts, panelists, researchers and paper presenterstried to discuss brain storm and bring out the solutionfor the situations. To continue with the tradition, thetheme of the National conference was “Skilling India& Entrepreneurship Development”

The Conference aimed to provide a platform forresearchers to expand the knowledge base aboutvarious trends and methods in skilling India andentrepreneurship. Skill India is a campaign launchedby Government of India in 2015 which aim to trainover 40 crore people in India in different skills by2022 Creation of sustainable growth is a primeconcern of business owners. The “Skilling India”programme aimed at accelerating the pace of skilldeve lopmen t , c r ea t i ng new employmen topportunities and reforming India's archaic labourecosystem is a positive step. Yet the challenges facedby the Ministry of Skil l Development andEntrepreneurship (MSDE) are complex and varied. It isalso imperative that the MSDE focus on implementinga multi-skilling aspect to its training programmemoving forward. As job markets evolve atunprecedented rates, it is incumbent upon the MSDEto provide its trainees with more than one way to earna living. Additionally, the ministry should also explorethe possibility of programmes aimed at skilling andreskilling older “educated” populations that might beleft behind owing to disruption and technologicaladvances.

Furthermore, the curriculum and education systemoffered also needs to be overhauled. Industry sourcesclaim that close to 90% of trainees have limitedunderstanding of the business sectors they areentering. For many skill programme graduates, thetraining does very little to prepare them for their day-to-day jobs.

Targeted initiatives focused on updating skills canhelp ensure that the training benefits its intended

audience. A solutions-based approach, whereinstructors employ case studies and present relevantproblems, would provide students with a holisticeducation, allowing them to compete at both thenational and international levels.

Navsahyadri Institute of management invitedconceptual, empirical papers and case studies fromindustry personnel, researchers, academicians andstudents related to various themes of the conference.
