Some people even go through great lengths to root for a specific player. Have you ever met someone who was famous? How did you act in front of them? Were you all giddy? Maybe you were shy? People often say they have a hard time talking to a famous person. Especially if it someone they really admire. They get nervous. And the only thing they can think to say, is to tell the famous person how good they are at what they do. Youth News Hello Church Family, As a youth leader, I always get excited about the beginning of the school year. With a new year comes new beginnings for our kids and new opportunities for our church. The hardest time for me is always through the summer. Kids and their families are busy with sports and vacations that numbers begin to fall off. So, as a leader it is sometimes hard to stay motivated and to see that you are fulfilling God’s call to ministry. With all that said, I get so excited about school starting back because all the kids will begin to trickle back into the youth. For the kids, this is their opportunity not just to go to school to get a great education, it’s an opportunity for them to enter the biggest mission field in America. And that really gets me excited. A few years ago, my wife and I debated on putting our daughter in a private faith based school to make sure she was getting a good Christian foundation with her education. After talking to a great friend, she reminded me that we, parents, are responsible for making sure that our kids are getting the Christian foundation they need at home, and while private faith based schools are great, taking our daughter out of public schools would mean taking a missionary out of the mission field. She could not have been more right. My wife and I decided to keep her in a public school and we couldn’t be prouder of Ashton and her willingness to love her fellow students as Christ would. This is my prayer for all our students, that they see that God placed them in the public-school system, with amazing God loving teachers I might add, to go make disciples. I pray we all continue to pray for our students and that God will put people in their path that they can make a positive impact on. With the beginning of school also comes a very busy activity schedule. We have a lot of activities in place to get the school year started off with a bang. First, we have the back to school bash coming up Wednesday August 23 where we will also get to meet Katie Phillips, candidate for our new Children’s Director. This will begin at 6:00 with a good old backyard BBQ. Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks will be provided. We only ask that you bring your appetite and a good homemade desert. I kinda like those no bake cookies if anyone wants to make them! After the meet and greet we will have water games for all ages set up outside so bring your kids. Next, we will have a youth lock in on Friday August 25. The chaperones and myself will need your prayers to say the least, LOL! This will be available for upcoming 6 th graders and up. We want to invite our new kids to come in for some good food, fun and fellowship. As always, I appreciate all the love and support my family and I receive from you all week in and week out. We love being a part of this wonderful family and having the opportunity to work with the wonderful leadership of this church. With love, Ricky C. Hello Church Family,

Thanks to Becky and Laura Lee for a great job on “Wonderful Grace of Jesus” for our offertory. It was interesting to see many in the congregation mouthing the words. The Adult Choir did a beautiful job on an interesting piece. This Sunday George Munday will be playing our offertory. The Adult Choir will be presenting an inspirational anthem, “Oh, What a Savior” with soloist Evonna Marcum. Thanks to Mike Tracy for filling in for me last Sunday night.

Have a Great Week!! Stuart Reminder; Pasta dinner this Sunday, 12:00-1:30 in the Christian Life Center to benefit Lincoln County Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program. Tickets are $8.00, $5.00 for children 10 and under. You can still get tickets by calling Sheila or show up Sunday. The meal includes salad, homemade spaghetti and meat sauce, homemade dessert, and drink. Come join us and help out the scholarship program.
