FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners,

The man in this Sunday‟s gospel was born blind. Being born blind means never knowing colors,

QUESTION OF THE WEEK Jesus cures the blind man and can cure our blind spots.

Who/what do you need to see more clearly? What/whom do you believe in?

========================================

This Week’s Readings

Fourth Sunday of Lent (April 2/3) Reading I: 1 Samuel 16:1b, 6-7, 10-13a

Reading II: Ephesians 5:8-14

Gospel: John 9:1-41

Next Week’s Readings

Fifth Sunday of Lent (April 9/10)

Reading I: Ezekiel 37:12-14

Reading II: Romans 8:8-11 Gospel: John 11:1-45

========================================

Fourth Week of Lent

SYMBOL: LIGHT

Without light we cannot see. In the darkness we flip a

switch or fumble for a match or find a candle or turn on

a flashlight. The light of the moon or the stars may guide

us at night, but without light we are blind, we cannot see at all.

Jesus identifies himself as the light. He gives sight to the

blind, to those who live in darkness. He illuminates, makes visible, God‟s love. His brightness blinds some

and enables others to see. “I came into the world to

divide it,” he says, “to make the sighless see and the seeing blind.” He calls those who recognize him as the

light to be a people of light.

During the Lenten season, the church uses light and

darkness as symbols to represent good and evil, life and death. As Christ passed over from life to death to new

life, so we as a baptized people are called to continue

moving from darkness to dawn to the fullness of light, which shines through Christ.

needed for the stage crew (props, lighting, sound, etc.) or to help distribute the costumes,

etc.. If you are a veteran of the Dramatic Stations

Presentations, we are looking forward to your return and

we ask that you please invite someone new to join you for this year's presentation. If you are new to the parish,

we invite you to join us. In addition, it is a great way to

meet new people. Many veterans tell us that their participation in the Dramatic Stations is a very

meaningful and spiritual way for them to observe the

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

“The gifts women possess – for example, for leadership and organization – are not unique to women. They are,

however, shaped by women‟s unique experience as

develop and how they are offered to society and to the Church. We accept the Holy Father‟s challenge to

affirm these gifts, to „examine the past with courage‟ and

to recognize women‟s achievements.” These words are part of a statement, of the U.S. Bishops‟ Committee on

Women in Society and in the Church, entitled From

Words to Deeds: Continuing Reflections on the Role of Women in the Church. For more information about the

FROM OUR PARISH NURSE … Janet Daubert

Do you know what‟s in your wallet? The answer is not credit cards! The answer is EMERGENCY

INFORMATION. In case of an accident at or away from

home, this information can save your life. The information you need is: Who to notify in case of an

emergency; any serious medical conditions; a list of

current medications and your physician. I cannot stress

how important this is. Take the time today to record your information on an

index card and place it in your wallet. Include any

allergies. At home, you should have the same information on your refrigerator on a large piece of

colored paper if possible. This is the first place

emergency medical help will look. When you provide this information emergency personnel can treat you

quickly and safely. Isn‟t it time to take good care of

yourself? And pass on this suggestion to family and

friends! ========================================
