The Gospel Challenge: The Gospel of Mark This week we continue our Gospel Challenge with questions from the Gospel of St. Mark, Chapter 8 through Chapter 14.

Mark Chapter 8 Reflection Questions: In this chapter Jesus asks His disciples an important question, “Who do people say that I am?” If someone asked you that question about Jesus, how would you reply? Has your relationship and knowledge of Jesus changed during this time of reading the Gospels of Matthew and Mark?

Mark Chapter 9 Reflection Question: In this chapter of Mark’s Gospel, the disciples are puzzled on why Jesus is speaking about rising from the dead. What does the Resurrection mean in your life?

Mark Chapter 10 Reflection Questions: In Mark 10:13-16, we see Jesus welcoming the children that come to him. This passage was used by the early Church Fathers who endorsed

and practiced infant baptism. Why is baptism such an important part of your life? How are we living out our baptismal promises? Read again the “Healing of Blind Bartimaeus.” Put yourself in the place of Bartimaeus. If Jesus asked you, “What do you desire?” What would be your response?

Mark Chapter 11 Reflection Question: In “The Cleansing of the Temple” Jesus is motivated by love and zeal for His

Father to clean it of things that don’t belong there. Are we motivated by the same love and zeal to clean our own temples, our own communities of things that are causing the faith to decay instead of grow?

Mark Chapter 12 Reflection Question: In Mark 12:29-31, Jesus tells us about the importance of loving God and loving our neighbor. This Gospel Challenge is hopefully helping you to do both. How has it helped you in these ways? Mark Chapter 13 Reflection Questions: As Jesus prepares for the coming of His Passion, He reminds the Apostles to be on guard and to be prepared for the coming challenges in our faith. As we encounter challenges and trials in our lives, how do we react to them? Where do we turn to make sure our souls are prepared for the Coming of Christ? Mark Chapter 14 Reflection Questions: In Mark 14:22-25 we have the “Institution of the Eucharist.” Our Church tells us the Eucharist is “the source and summit of our Christian faith.” Do we recognize the specialness of the Eucharist? How has this great Sacrament of our Lord’s Body and Blood changed you?

God Bless you and your family, Father Vince

Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Vicente

Come and See!

October is Respect Life Month October is known as Respect Life Month – a time for us to focus on caring for life in all situations from conception until natural

death. There are many ways that our society tries to devalue life: by promoting the horror of abortion or killing the unborn as

healthcare, to the misplaced “compassion” of assisted suicide and euthanasia. As a Catholic, we are supposed to be people of life – protecting it for our vulnerable brothers and sisters, and

walking with those who are suffering, so that each person’s life is valued – as it is in God’s eyes.

Join our LIFE CHAIN on Sunday, October 7th!!

As we have for the past several years, we will have a LIFE CHAIN in front of St. Lawrence Church, along the White Horse

Pike on Respect Life Sunday. This is an event that is taking place across our diocese, as well as across our country! We will

stand in silent prayerful witness to the sanctity of human life from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Please gather at 1:15 at Our Lady’s

outdoor shrine to receive instructions and signs. At 2:30, we will gather around Our Lady and pray the Rosary.

Join us for the Our Lady of Guadalupe Fall Faith Formation Program

Bishop Robert Barron’s presentation on

The Mass

In this dvd series you will walk through the liturgy and will learn new insights about how The Mass, our intimate encounter with

Our Lord Jesus, brings us out of our fallen world into the heavenly realm.

Time and Locations:

Thursday mornings, beginning October 4th @ 10:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of Grace Chapel (St. Lawrence campus).

Tuesday evenings, beginning October 9th @ 6:30 p.m. in

St. Luke Church.

All are Loved! All are Welcome!

Come, Consider the Call

Priesthood: A life of Service and Sacrifice

If you are currently a junior or senior in high school, college student or in the professional world (up to 39 years old), and feel

the possible call to the priesthood, this group can help you discern and pray with others who are also considering a call to

the priesthood.

Join our Diocesan Vocation Director Fr. Michael Romano and other priests from our diocese to see the joy and the life of the Catholic priesthood! Our own Fr. Adam will be leading the group on October 21! All meetings will take place at Our Lady of Peace Parish at 32 Carroll Ave., Williamstown from

2-3:30PM. The upcoming meetings will be held on October 21, November 11, and December 9.

For the past two Sundays I spoke from the pulpit about the Catholic Strong Campaign. Thank you for your patience and

attentive listening. I spoke from the heart. Like you, I am saddened by sins of the Church and the hurt they have caused, but I am also hopeful because the Church truly finds its home in the

local parish. It is here, in our parish, that we learn our faith, celebrate the sacraments, visit the sick, and bury our loved ones.

Older buildings always need repair, but most importantly we hope to grow our parish through expanded ministry to our youth,

young adults, adult education, and evangelization.

Through your support of the Catholic Strong campaign, we will create in our parish new programs and initiatives to evangelize

and bring home again those who have left our fold.

Thank you for those who have already made a generous contribution to our Parish Catholic Strong Campaign.

God Bless you. Fr. Vince

Padre Vicente

brings a love for teaching in Catholic schools and much experience. Over the coming weeks, we will share some

information about them with you.
