GOLF NEWS

Yahoo…It’s time for (more) golf at BBV! – For those of you who are back in the Village now (or never left), you already know that the golfing season has arrived. Many have been playing the course on a regular basis through-out the winter and more are joining in as the course rounds into great shape with all the great weather we’ve had. Come on out and join the fun! BBV Golf Club ramps up for new season – Entering its second year, the BBV Golf Club is planning new events and activities, along with many familiar ones. Don’t miss out. New and renewal member applications are now be-ing accepted from all BBV golfers, non-golfers, spouses, children, other family members and more. The cost is still only $5 US per person!!! But, don’t wait too long to turn in your application. The 2015 BBV Golf Club booklet, which lists all Golf Club members and current contact information, the 2015 schedule of Club activities and more, is in the works. Please submit new/renewal appli-cation(s) ASAP, along with $5 per person fees (US cur-rency or checks made out to “Birch Bay Village Golf Club” (BBVGC)), to Jim Macmillan (Club President), 8156 Sehome Rd., Blaine, WA 98230. For more information please contact Jim Macmillan at 360-371-2933 or [email protected]. First golf tournament of the year – The annual BBV/Golf Lab tournament, the first of many golf tournaments we have planned at BBV this year takes place on April 4 with a shotgun start at 10am. The format is 2-person teams; cost is $20 – BBV members/$40 – guest players (includes green fees, prize fund, food and soft drinks (all inclu-sive)); payouts for individual gross/net, two person team gross/net, SKINS, and KP'S. Team up with your partner, a friend or buddy, or Joe will find one for you. Limited to first 60 players to sign up – email Joe at [email protected] or call 752-3337. Don’t delay…it’s time to pay! – Take advantage of the many convenient ways that you and/or a sponsored guest can pay for golfing at BBV—annual passes (including the Sponsored Golf Pass), 10-round play cards, per-round green fees, and an after-hours “Honest Box” fee ($10 all-day)—they all provide a great and fair value. See you on the tee at BBV!!!

such as decorative note pads, fancy pens, decorative cock-tail/regular napkins, vases, tea towels, candles and holders, liquid soaps or lotions, and medium to large sized baskets. Please contact Judy if you have items to donate. Helping Hands: We have a wonderful group of volunteers who are available to provide temporary assistance to resi-dents in the Village who are sick, recovering from surgery or otherwise need a helping hand. Some of the short-term as-sistance we can provide includes rides to doctor appoint-ments/medical treatments, meals, small gardening or weed-ing projects/lawn mowing, etc. We also have a good supply of medical equipment such as bed rails, crutches, electric scooter, wheel chairs, shower chairs, walkers, and toilet ris-ers, etc. which is available on a temporary basis. There is a folding wheel chair ramp available for short-term loan to Vil-lage residents. If you or someone you know needs a "helping hand," please call Sheryl at 371-3505. Please remember to call Sheryl when borrowing or returning all equipment. And thank you for returning it in a sanitized condition. Stafholt Good Samaritan Center: The Social Club has provided gifts for the residents of Stafholt in Blaine for many years. The Club members are also involved in staffing the “Bingo Bucks” shopping tables for the residents each month. This is where the residents can use their “Bingo Bucks,” earned while playing bingo, to shop for family and themselves for small items. Donations are needed to fill up the shop’s tables for the Stafholt Residents. Especially needed are items for men, such as hats, sports or polo shirts (size Large), soaps/lotions, and other small items for men. Jewelry is popular with the ladies, especially necklaces that can be slipped over the head. Games and toys are great and allow the residents to purchase gifts for their grand and great grand children. If you would like to help provide shopping items for these resi-dents, please contact Terry at 206-399-2672 or Carol at 371-2933. Food Bank Donations: Food Bank donations are always need-ed year round. Please check your cupboards and pantries for those extra food items that can be donated to the communi-ty food bank to help families in our Blaine/Birch Bay commu-nity. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Clubhouse anytime it is open for any event. Please do not bring food that has an expiration date prior to April 2015. The Clothing Store has a bin next to their entry door for clothing donations so you can drop donations off at anytime. Donations in good condition are always appreciated.

Having attended the Sucia Cleanup several years in a row, it was always fun, entertaining and you get the personal satisfaction of being part of maintaining this world famous, scenic marine park. At the General Meeting and Dinner, Chris Doutre will be presenting our Web Site to you, I can tell you how ex-citing it is to go to our BBVC YC Web Site and get real in-

formation. We hope to keep it updated and Chris has generously offered his time and talents to work with Jeff Morris-Reade to maintain the site. All Yacht Club News and events will be posted providing useful information to all members. We will have the new membership cards at the Spring General Meeting and Dinner. I hope that you will be as proud as I am, of the new cards. A big thanks to the hardworking Bridge members Agnes and Jodie that did make this happen. When I first joined the Yacht Club here when I moved from Huntington Beach, I was shocked and disappointed that the Bridge members were expected to do all the planning and work. But, thanks to Commodore Dennis Duncan and Commodore Dawn Baker this has really changed and in my estimation, has completely revitalized our Yacht Club. I hope to continue their guidance and foresight. I am happy to see that they have agreed, along with Past Commodore Ed Stipkala to be the Nominating Committee for the 2016 Bridge. Future Event The popular Waterside Wednesday will make its appear-ance again on May 13th. More details at http://www.bbvyc.org Finally - I must apologize – I promised you “Double Trou-ble”, in my last Bulletins ramblings, for the Spring General Meeting and Dinner – but after I hit “send” it was pointed out to me that I should have confirmed this with our Chairman of the Social Events. She had concluded cor-rectly, because of the expected crowd, and the business to be discussed, it was just not feasible. I promise they will return in the future.
