SOCIAL CLUB NEWS CONT’D Helping Hands: We have a good group of volunteers who are available to provide temporary assistance to those in the Village who are sick, recovering from sur-gery or otherwise need help. We also have a good supply of medical equipment such as crutches, electric scooter, wheel chairs, shower chairs, walkers, and toi-let risers, etc. There is a folding wheel chair ramp avail-able for short-term loan. Bed rails have been pur-chased and are now available for use by BBV residents. If you or someone you know needs a "helping hand," please call Sheryl at 371-3505. Please remember to call Sheryl when borrowing or returning all equipment. And thank you for returning it in a sanitized condition. Stafholt Good Samaritan Center: The Social Club has provided gifts for the residents of Stafholt in Blaine for many years. The Club has also become involved in staffing the “Bingo Bucks” shopping tables for the resi-dents each month. This is where the residents can use their “Bingo Bucks,” earned while playing bingo, to shop for family and themselves for small items. Dona-tions are welcomed, especially items for men, such as hats, T-shirts, soaps/lotions, and other small items. Jewelry is also popular, especially necklaces that can be slipped over the head. If you would like to help pro-vide shopping items for these residents, please contact Terry at 206-399-2672 or Carol at 371-2933. Food Bank Donations: The need for Food Bank dona-tions is really critical at this time of year in our commu-nity. Please check your cupboards and pantries for those extra food items that can be donated to the community food bank to help families provide a nice holiday dinner for their children. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Clubhouse anytime it is open for any event. Please do not bring food that has an expiration date prior to January 2015. The Clothing Store now has a bin next to their entry door for clothing donations. With cold weather up-on us, donations of clothing and linens in good condition are ap-preciated. No need to wait until the clothing store is open!

YACHT CLUB NEWS Ahoy Members The Yacht Club members had a very festive and enjoya-ble Christmas Party. We received nothing but praises for the way the tables were placed. The food was out of this world. There was sufficient room for the mem-bers to visit and tell lies and tall stories from the past cruising season. I really appreciate the way everyone contributed to make this party a success. We are looking forward to begin the year with a Movie Night in January and the membership Breakfast on February the 14th. The Web Site has all the dates for the proposed cruises and all of them are existing loca-tions that we have not visited in a while. We will con-tinue the Waterside BBQ’s that were greatly enjoyed by all the members. We have posted the activities on the Web Site . After the Holidays you will get more de-tailed information in an email, so that you can start planning. I am convinced that this will be the best year ever for the BBV Yacht Club. The Bridge and I hope that you have had a safe Holiday Season. Your Commodore, Peter Winterfeld ADULT POKER NIGHT

CITATION REPORT

The Security Committee and Board have been consid-ering options to appease the awkwardness and danger of both visitor and member gates opening simultane-ously. Until a resolution is discovered, please use cau-tion and be courteous. The office will soon be depositing checks via a scanner at the office. This will not effect membership, other than checks drawn from Canadian banks can no longer be accepted. Countrywide Fence Center will be installing chain link fencing to replace the lower gate wall. Staff will be re-moving the wall, so they will need to coordinate their schedules. Expect new fencing by the spring if not sooner. The current BBV owned property on Salish has been listed at $59,500. Comcast is scheduled to install an internet line at the guard house. The internet line will be plugged into a phone unit (Ooma); using an internet based line will lower the phone bill considerably. The Board will be drafting a resolution on “statement of work”. The statements will be required for any pro-ject over $2500. The details of the statements will need to be determined by the committees or board when they request a quote.

BBV Golf Club invites you to sign-up/renew – Don’t for-get to renew or join up for membership in the BBV Golf Club…still only $5 US…deadline is April 1 to ensure your listing in the 2015 Roster. The roster will also contain the dates of the upcoming years’ golfing events and activities. Standing committees of the Golf Club include an Executive Committee (above officers), a Tourna-ment/Handicap Committee, a Social Coordination Com-mittee, and an At-Large Member Committee. Please consider joining one of these committees; be active in and support the Golf Club! Contact Jim Macmillan for applications (360-371-2933; [email protected]) Winter reminders for all Non-golfers: The golf course may seem empty and in-viting but it remains in use for golfing only. Believe it or not, many golfers (new and old) seem to “come out of the woodwork” at this time of the year to challenge the course and Mother Nature. So, please no walking, biking, playing, etc., on the course; don’t risk being in-jured or causing inadvertent damage to the course. Honor the ‘honor box’ – If you don’t have a valid/current Annual Golf Pass and the Golf Shop is closed, you must pay the $10 day-fee. It’s still a bargain, so why risk a fine and/or the embarrassment of being caught not paying? Golfers: The course is more prone to damage during the winter, so please keep motor carts on the concrete pathways as much as possible, keep hand carts off tee boxes and greens, and repair fairway and green divots that you and others make to keep the course healthy and in good playing condition for those who follow. Also, when frost is on the ground, do not start play un-til it melts. And respect private property at all times. Thank you!

GOLF NEWS Welcome to the New Year!!!! I hope that all your dreams and wishes are fulfilled this year. Hopefully 2015 will be filled with health, happiness, and good for-tune. The year 2014 was very busy with a lot of activity and events happening in the Village. The projects the Vil-lage undertakes are a result of member contributions in the way of money. Your dues allow the projects to be completed and to re-invest into the Reserve funds for future repair and replacement of common area items. All committees (and that includes the Board) require a lot of time, effort, and a lot of sacrifice. Each Club or Group and those who attend the functions of these Clubs or Groups also extend a lot of effort and time. These make the Village what it is. Sometimes you may not feel like your efforts are appreciated, but you make life better for so many of your fellow mem-bers. Eventually, members come to appreciate your efforts and hopefully will respond with their thanks. You have mine. Each year at this time, I try to distinguish a few mem-bers for their contributions above and beyond the norm with the ‘General Manager’s Special Achieve-ment Awards’. It would seem that as members get rec-ognized, the list would get shorter, but each year a new batch of candidates are added to list making the deci-sion even more difficult. This is a good thing, and I and the membership thank all of you for your efforts. The 2014 award winners are Valery Anderson. Valery is on her second go-around on the Board of Directors’. Most members donate their time and effort once, but to do it all over again shows Valery’s dedication to the Village. She also has taken the responsibility to over-see the landscaping efforts of the Village. Linda Lockie has been a mainstay with the Art Club for many years and helps with the annual Autumn Bazaar as well as many other Social Club events. Carol Macmillan has been very active in the Social Club and has taken care of the Reader board for many years. Judy Sullivan helped run the Pizza Night activities, helps with and cleans up after the Poker Night functions, has been ac-tive in the Social Club and a member of the Helping

Hands to assist members who need attention and help. Eric Peters is another Village member on a second go-around on the Board. He has assisted in writing Reso-lutions, doing the re-write to the Covenants, as well as keeping the Board focused on doing things correctly and according to Roberts Rules of Order. Peter Winter-feld, also a Board member, has represented the Village with Birch Bay Water & Sewer and as a commissioner (?) on BBWARM. He is currently the Commodore of the Yacht Club as well. Rich & Kathy Gort were both members of the Roads & Drainage Committee, estab-lished the Music Group, and have assisted with Club-house activities. Kathy helped set up the Clubhouse Group to assist in oversight of Clubhouse functions and Rich assisted in the Acoustic system (Sound System) that many use at the Clubhouse. Chris Doutre is also a member of the Acoustic Group helping design and as-sisting members in the use of the sound system at the Clubhouse. Chris has also been an active member of the Marina Committee. All of these award winners have also volunteered on various projects around the Village such as painting, pressure washing, and as-sisting staff with numerous projects. Each has my heartfelt thanks. When you see any of these members out and about, stop and say ‘Thank You’ for all your deeds. God Bless.

Thanks a millions and Happy New Year to all!!!!
