From the Sports Desk

Somebody once said that change is the only thing that remains constant in our lives, and when I told my daughter, she thought that was very wise. I think so too. As I write this for you, I am apprehensive about starting a new year. At the end of last year, I was looking back on the year with a feeling of success and having achieved something. When I look forward to the coming year, I feel very apprehensive. I am thinking about the amount of work that needs to be done and wondering if I am up to the challenge. Why am I here then, you are probably wondering; well, there is fun to be had here and I am not about to let this opportunity pass me by. As much as there was work to be done last year, my foggy memory tells me there was twice as much fun. That is why I stay at Cedarwood. This term we start on a fresh page. We set new standards and we raise our eyes to new horizons.

Our extra murals start next week, except horse riding which starts from today, and the programme is in the packs you received at our Orientation yesterday. The extra murals will run pretty much in the usual way, except that we will introduce volleyball for our more senior pupils While we intend for this to become a competitive sport in the future, for now we will be keeping it as an internal sport. During the next three days, we will assist pupils in deciding on the sports they wish to be involved in this term. Please send their selections through to the class teacher by Friday, 17 January.

We are also fortunate to have obtained the services of Simphiwe Strumann, who will be assisting with the coaching of various sports within the school, and we are sure that he will add more fun to our activities on the field and in our lives at Cedarwood.
