November’s big thing is Thanksgiving Day! And Sharing Meadows Good News is certainly full of Thanksgiving!!! Many of our prayers – mine and especially our villagers have been answered. Take for example, the fellow who was given two months to live and, after our villagers prayed and asked God to heal him, he now is walking around fit as a fiddle.

Many of our villagers have added new skills to their lives and are now working on riding lawn mowers or weaving beautiful towels and rugs. We are thankful for that increase of life experience. And for those who taught our villagers those new skills.

And, of course, we at Sharing Meadows are especially thankful for all of you who have so generously contributed financial aid. This is done in many ways, one of which is our Memorials. There are always about four pages of memorials in each newsletter, usually for a departed loved one. Some remember them on a monthly

basis or an annual basis. Some living people are remembered for a birthday or wedding anniversary or in celebration of aspecial friendship. We are very thankful for these many kind gifts.

And especially we at Sharing Meadows are thankful to God!!! There are many, many times that He has been there to help us.Sometimes even before we were aware that we needed help. I, personally, know that God has wanted Sharing Meadows toexist by the many ways He has helped us to continue! Thanks be to God!

May your hearts be full of Thanksgiving especially this month of November, a Thanksgiving to God for his many kindnesses!

AN OLD FASHIONED RADIO SHOWThe Knights of Columbus from Cedar Lake are sponsoring a radio style show to benefit Share Foundation. It is titled “An Evening With Orson Welles: Mercury Theatre on the Air” and will feature an episode of The Shadow (Welles’ first starring series) and a script under the Mercury on the Air moniker. The production will star some of Northwest Indiana’s finest community theatre actors and some of the Knights from the Cedar Lake Council. The show will be presented on Saturday, November 19 at 7 pm and Sunday, November 20 at 2 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall 13039 Wicker Ave., Cedar Lake. Reservations can be made by calling the hall at 219-374-4294 and leaving a message with your name and number in your party.

The show is presented as a live radio broadcast complete with sound effects and music. Please come and support this event to benefit Share Foundation!

THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORBy Kathleen Kelly

I recently returned from a two week vacation and when I walked into the camp building for our daily prayer serviceon my first day back, I was met with shouts of “We missed you” and many hugs from the villagers who were happyto see me. It made me realize, once again, how thankful I am for their presence in my life. Their acceptance of mewith all of my faults and failures and their unconditional love has enriched my life and brightened many a gloomy day.Witnessing their growth has been an amazing privilege that I am truly grateful for. This month marks the 22nd

anniversary of the residential program at Sharing Meadows and so much goodness has taken place in those 22 yearsthat we have much to be thankful for.

One of the villagers came up to me and reminded me that while I was on vacation she celebrated her birthday and shewas now 45 years old. After wishing her a belated happy birthday, I reflected for a moment on how she has grown inthe 22 years since she came to live at Sharing Meadows as a young woman, ready to live independently of her parents.She has blossomed into a lovely, capable, confident woman who is happy and thriving much to her family’s delight. Iam grateful for her and all of the villagers who have found peace and fulfillment here at Sharing Meadows where theyare challenged to grow to the best of their abilities but always in a safe and loving environment.

As I think back over those 22 years, I remember each time we built a new village and welcomed new villagers andstewards and how each one brought their unique gifts and talents to add to our community. Now that we havecompleted the master plan by constructing 5 villages, we are embarking on a new venture with the construction of theJohn Largura Family Senior Center so that all of the villagers – no matter what their age - can continue to find a safe,loving home at Sharing Meadows. I am thankful for John Largura and his family for their generosity in making thispossible. God has been so good to me in allowing me to be a small part of the development of Sharing Meadows andseeing the Senior Center being constructed will only add to the joy.

May you have much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
