Dutch waterboards abroad
2007 Manifestation “Het Akkoord van Schokland” WASH-Akkoord.
By signing this agreement, the waterboards, together with other key players in the Dutch water sector, linked to commit themselves to the achievement of Millennium
Development Goal 7c.
This objective involves halving the number of people without access to safe drinking water and / or proper
sanitation.
The WASH agreement has a strong impetus to the international commitment of the water boards.

• To assist region for optimization of sand dams and protection of water resources against pollution
• Strengthen good policy and management for local public water resources
• Capacity building for strategic planning, data management and PME
• Scaling up of previous sand dams project to multiple use of water resources
• Research opportunities for development of local water-related economy

• Capacitating DDAC and Meta woreda staff in training on technical skills (refreshment course) on Delagua water quality testkits and surveillance/ sanitary inspection;
• Capacitating DDAC and Meta Woreda by means of a meeting and start-up discussion with two local experts on the subjects of strategic planning and data management.
