Two lifts service the block and there is an emergency staircase.

The block has an automatic fire alarm and smoke extract system.

There are "bin stores" located on each floor in the block and a fire was located within one in 1997.

In case of fire residents are advised to remain in their homes unless affected by heat or smoke. Theywould be advised by fire services or the estate office when to leave their homes.

There is a large area underneath the block that houses the central plant heating system.

We need to pull some of this together pretty fast in terms of Health and Safety compliance ( Barbaraand Janice)

As you may be aware Grenfell Towers has had a major fire and the building and some surroundingbuildings have been evacuated as a result. Rest Centres have been set up in the borough for residentsto go to whilst the building remains evacuated. We will need to deploy officers to these rest centrestoday to deal with residents and coordinate placements. I will organise at 9am. I am currently in the MajorIncident Room in the town hall (Holland Room) with Laura and Amanda. Chris Scott is coordinating offersof accommodation and we are currently in the process of block booking commercial hotels.

It has been agreed that the Housing Line number (020 7361 3008) will be provided to any residentrequiring assistance with accommodation. Staff taking the call will log the name, address, contact detailsand the customer's need. Customers calling in today who do not have an urgent need should be kindlyasked if they can call back another day.

If any customer presents themselves in the Customer Services Centre (face to face) if not urgent, theyshould be asked to come back another day or suggest they visit another local authority.
