Just a Thought
Just A Thought
Sunday, December 17, 2017 was an incredibly important day in the history of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church as the church
approved a Deacon recommendation to open its doors and share space with On Mission Church, pastored by Cory Hallett. One
person stated that this was the most important decision Mt. Harmony has made in decades. Several others stated it may be the
most important decision in the history of the church since the church was organized in 1871. Regardless of your take on the
decision, I believe history was made as we officially welcomed Pastor Hallet and On Mission Church to our campus with our
vote of affirmation.
With the unanimous approval by the church, there will be some necessary adjustments for our congregation. Please allow me to
outline a few of these adjustments for you:
1. Since On Mission Church will be using the Fellowship Hall while we are in Bible Study and Worship and that will be
their primary entrance, please use another entrance to enter the buildings other than the Fellowship Hall entrance.
We have plenty of parking around the building and plenty of other doors allowing entrance into our buildings.
2. Yes, we are setting up additional Coffee Stations.
Station 1 will be located in the hallway located just outside the Family Ministry Resource Room.
Station 2 will be located on the landing of the 3rd floor in the Education Building.
Station 3 will be located in Room #6 in the Chapel Building.
3. Several of our Sunday Morning LifeGroups will be re-locating to another classroom space. Those classes and the
new room assignment are listed below. Remember (C = Chapel Building; WC = The rooms located under the Worship
Center; E = The Education Building.
Luther Cribb to C11
Mary Newman to C8
Ray Brown to WC101
Mark Toler to E302
Lamar Lester to E304
Mike Partain to C12
On Mission Church will utilize some of our rooms for a Ladies Group and their New Believers Classes. “Thank you” to these
teachers and classes for their willingness to be flexible; for having a “whatever it takes mentality;” and for unity in the Body of
Christ. God is truly at work. We are seeing the vision come to fruition. This is exciting, invigorating and encouraging. To God
Be The Glory!
January is upon us and with it comes a brand New Year! Let me wish all of you a Happy New Year. God has much in store for
us individually and congregationally as we seek His face then move forward in complete obedience to Him. As someone once
said, “I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow!” Our tomorrows are in His hands… He will
accomplish His will. Our response is to simply follow, joyfully obey, generously give, completely surrender and with hearts of
praise and thanksgiving worship Him. I think of the writer of Hebrews as he shared these words in Hebrews 12, “…let us throw
off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning
its shame, and sat down sat the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men,
so that you will not grow weary and lose heart”
I want to take the opportunity to thank ALL who helped make our Christmas Celebration so wonderful. The ladies and
gentlemen who decorated the Worship Center, Heather Allen and Cindy Hunter for leading out with the Breakfast with Santa, our
Music Ministry under the direction of Barry Bryant for the beautiful Christmas music from our Celebration Choir, Worship
Choir, Hand Bells, and those precious children singing on Sunday morning. Thank you to all of you. Thank you to Nelson
Fleming and pianists for an outstanding Christmas at the Keyboards. Special Thanks to Noelle Porter and Carrie Harlin, Director and Assistant Director for bringing many of the WEE Children to sing at our Candlelight Christmas Service. Thank you to Mark Hunter
and the Tech Team for handling the sound and lighting at different events. For all who helped Heather Allen with the Church wide
Breakfast, thank you… I say THANK YOU TO ALL!
As the New Year begins, remember two things:
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, and the new has come.” (2 Cor. 5:17)
“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
(Mark 10:27)
Happy New Year! You are Loved and Appreciated!
Sons of Jubal Concert Mt. Harmony Baptist Church
Thursday, February 1st at 7:00pm
A worship concert presented by the Sons of Jubal: a praise and proclamation ministry of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. There is no cost, however a free-will love offering will be taken during the concert to support mission projects of the Sons of Jubal.
Mt. Harmony has the wonderful privilege of hosting The Sons of Jubal for their very first concert of 2018, on Thursday, February 1st. The preludes will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. Begin now inviting all of your family, friends, and neighbors, and help get the word out to other nearby churches who will want to take advantage of
the only concert in Cobb County or the western area of metro Atlanta this year.
Members will begin arriving for rehearsals in the morning and will be on site until after the concert that evening. We will need quite an army of volunteers to help staff the day of the concert.
some of our expert bakers to make homemade snacks for the afternoon break time and cakes for dessert to go along with our dinner
volunteers to be hosts and hostesses throughout the building to greet and give directions
help in the kitchen and fellowship hall throughout the afternoon, and especially during the meal.
If you would like to volunteer, there will be sign-up sheets on the kiosks in the back of the worship center, or you can see or contact Nelson.

OUR MISSION IS HELPING PEOPLE FIND GOD We’ve seen the transformation hundreds of times – people who came to us full of doubt and uncertainty become secure in the knowledge of their rightful place in God’s great kingdom. The change may start slowly – in a Bible Study class or choir participation, perhaps – but once it begins, it picks up speed. Serving Jesus together, shared experiences, time spent in prayer – all bring us closer to our highest calling. Take the first step toward personal renewal – join us for services this week! Above all else, Mt. Harmony is a church that loves Jesus, loves people, and loves our community. We're just real people, but we are passionate about helping people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Mt. Harmony partners with over 45,000 churches (16 million Christians) who call themselves Southern Baptists. Together we support 10,000 missionaries in 154 nations around the world.
