FROM PAST TO PRESENT PALESTINIAN MATTER 01 The person who was the president of Zionist Congress that was gathered in 1897 and known as politic leader of Zionism, Theodoral Herzl wanted from Ottoman Empire to sell Palestine lands to Israel as repayment of its debts 02 Sultan Abdulhamid the Second -peace be upon him- got the Theodoral out of his room for his request and he said that he could not sell the land which was watered with the martyrs’ blood 03 In spite of Abdulhamit’s refusal, Zionists did not give up establishing Jewish State in Palestine and wanted British-occupied territory in First World War to be given to them 04 Jews lived in different states of Ottoman Empire started to immigrate to Palestine in caravans between the years of 1904 and 1914. The first caravan was consisted of 40 people 05 Palestinian land occupied by Zionist Jews and British people in First World War. In 1917 Minister of British Foreign Affairs Balfour published the Balfour Declaration claiming that Palestine is the national territory of the Jews 06 Lord Walter Rotschild who is from the World’s richest Jew families and the managers of the Zionist Federation in England played prominent role in publicizing the declaration 07 In 1922 The League of Nations gave Palestine lands to British mandate in order Jew State to be established on Palestine territory 08 After the decision of League of Nations in the beginning of 1920 and when the Nazis became in power in 1930s Jews immigrated to Palestine with large numbers. At the end of the Second World War the population of Jews in Palestine was 33 percent of the whole 09 In 14th May 1941 Israeli State established in the leadership of David Ben Gurion by the help of League of Nations and England. Afterwards Egypt, Jordon, Syria and Iraq open a war against Israel 10 In 1950s Arab devotees struggled hardly against Israelis. Yaser Arafat established El Fetih in 1948 and El Fetih became the part of PLO afterwards. United Arabs established The Palestine Liberation Organization in 1964. PLO was recognized as only formal institution of Palestinian society in 1974 11 In 1967 Egypt, Syria and Jordan fought against the Israel in Six Days War however Israel occupied North Sharia, Gaza city and Hill of Golan after getting the military superiority. These countries could not have sufficient result of their fight in 1973 as well 12 Yaser Arafat and PLO struggled very hard by Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia for free Palestine. Arafat who released of several assassinations was working to ruin the Israeli State but he conceded the 242nd resolution of UN contained recognizing the Israel as state in 1988 13 The first Intifada has started in 1987 against the occupations, violence and massacre have taken place in Palestine. After killings of Palestinian soldiers with a little girl by Jew residents and Israeli soldiers, Palestinians started fighting with stones against Israelis. The Palestine struggle got big reflection in the world 14 It was the first time Palestinians stood up against the Israeli occupation as whole. Little children were the biggest heroes of the resistance (Intifada) . First Intifada which hundreds of children were killed had prolonged until 1993 15 The most impressive image have been kept in minds is challenging stones of child named Nafis against the tanks. Afterwards Nafis was named General Nafis by Arafat 16 In the beginning year of Intifada in 1987 sheikh Ahmed Yaseen established Hamas as Muslim Brothers branch. Palestinian struggle gained new motion with Hamas. Sheikh Yasin who was convicted to wheelchair was killed in 2004 by an Israeli rocket 17 As a result of peace agreements between PLO and Israel Oslo agreement was signed in Madrid in 1991 and in Oslo in 1993. According to agreement PLO would establish autonomous management in North Sharia and Gaza. Despite the agreement, Israeli occupation on mentioned regions has never ended. Oslo was signed by Abbas and Peres 18
