by numerous supporters throughout our community.

Today I am thankful for… YOU! Thank you never seems to be enough to say. Because of what YOU do to support LaVie, lives are being forever changed, babies are being saved, and Jesus’ love is being spread.

Serving Him Together,

...From Our C.E.O. continued from cover

Thank You for making LaVie’s 15th Annual Baby Bottle Campaign a great success!Did you miss this year’s campaign? How about holding a summer Baby Bottle Campaign? Contact us to find out how.

LaVie’s Baby Bottle Campaign continues to be our 2nd largest annual fundraiser. The Campaign is twofold; it provides a significant cash injection preceding our busiest time of the year – summer, and it provides significant community awareness for new partnerships to be formed and potential patients gained.

We are extremely grateful that, once again, dozens of churches in Billings and the surrounding area made LaVie bottles available to their congregations in the weeks preceding Mother’s Day.

While we continue to receive filled baby bottles, we are excited to report total contributions, as of this date, of $39K. With sincere appreciation, we thank everyone who donated to LaVie and to the many church representatives and volunteers

who gave of their time and talents to make this fundraiser possible. We wish to recognize the following individuals for their help with wrapping, packaging, counting, recording, etc.:

Also, “Thank You” to First Interstate Bank for again providing us with one of their coin counting machines which saved us “countless” hours (pun intended) counting coins. Additionally, thank you Neil Clark and Dwight from CPF, Inc. for fixing the machine numerous times.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the many church representatives and participating churches. The following are the churches that participated in our 2016 campaign:

Sponsor-A-Day UpdateWe are blessed by the generosity of our

donors and want to let you know that 200 of the 365 days in the year are represented through either full or half day sponsorship. We are grateful for your investment in the lives of young women, men and their unborn children. The program continues to provide a firm foundational income for the ministry of LaVie in both locations.

How does it work? At the time of implementing Sponsor-a-Day in 2006, we took our annual budget and divided all expenses, from light bulbs to building payments, by 365. We have only increased our Sponsor-a-Day rate once during these past ten years to try to keep pace with rising costs. The amount needed is $900; which

is the cost of operating both locations free of charge to the community. It seemed a lot to ask our donors to write a check for that amount, so we break it down into 12 payments or $75.00 monthly. You can also choose to sponsor ½ day for $450 which breaks down to $37.50 monthly. You decide which day of the year to sponsor and let us know. If that date has already been chosen, you may choose another. You may want to honor the date of a birthday, anniversary or other special event in your life.

If you want to know more about Sponsor-a-Day, please call LaVie and ask for Cindy or Carol at 652-4868. You may also sign up and donate through our secure website at www.billingscpc.org.

A Day in the Life of a LaVie Nurse by Stacie Pannell, RN7:25 Drop son at school. 7:50 Call from son asking to bring a new pair of pants as his tore when he tripped in band. 8:05 Call from daughter at school asking for a ride in 45 minutes – denied. 8:25 Arrive at doctor appointment for bad knee to discuss future knee replacement – put off as long as possible – message received. 9:00 Call to LaVie receptionist to see if there are any walk-in patients. 9:15 Devotion and prayer with co-workers.

9:30 Calls to patients giving lab results for STDs and US (ultrasound) results from radiologist; one patient is crying trying to understand how she tested + for Chlamydia as she is married and hasn’t been with anyone else for 2 years. 10:00 Scheduled patient doesn’t show. 10:15 Discussion with nurse manager about how to handle the boyfriend of my next patient. During last appointment he was escorted away by police. 10:30 Patient shows up for her ultrasound with a new boyfriend who stays in car. She was thinking about adoption, and will carry this pregnancy to term no matter what, but she is trying to figure out how she can parent. She denies current drug use, but I am suspicious. Referrals to community resources to include adoption,

and instructions to obtain a prenatal care appointment this week are given. Patient is scheduled for a follow up ultrasound to check on her progress with housing, her health and prenatal care. 12:00 New patient here for a pregnancy test and ultrasound. She indicates on her initial paperwork she is only considering abortion and has support for that option from the father of the baby and her brother. She thinks she is about 9 weeks along and wants to discuss what abortion looks like at this point. Ultrasound showed a very active second trimester fetus with an audible heartbeat, which patient watched quietly; pictures declined. Patient will wait to make a final decision until she has taken a long weekend to process the information she received today, including surgical abortion procedure at this gestation. I am trying to hold it together in a professional way while plainly speaking of the devastation which would occur to this baby’s body that we just watched kicking and turning in her womb. She indicates that she doesn’t hold any spiritual beliefs and does not want to discuss it today. She is crying about her situation and, due to her lack of belief and lack of emotional intimacy with the father, will be carrying this burden alone. Not alone – we will be praying for her and will check in by phone. Please help this woman and her baby, Dear Lord! And please help me to show her love! Help her to know You! Help!!!

1:00 Patient who has been scheduled 4 different times for an ultrasound calls receptionist to say she will be 20 minutes late and is looking for a ride.1:30 Patient calls saying she found a ride and will be here in 20 minutes. 2:30 New patient arrives for a scheduled ultrasound and is filling out paperwork. 2:35 Patient who was scheduled at 1:00 runs in. She is informed that we can still do her ultrasound, but she will need to wait 30-45 minutes and can watch a pregnancy DVD while waiting. She storms out and gets into a car.

...Celebrating 25 Years continued from cover

Founder of Love From Above, Inc. and the Time to Speak POWER movement, Yvonne Florczak-Seeman was just six-teen years old when she made the agonizing decision to end the life of her unborn child. She can still vividly remember the visit to the abortion clinic. She can recall people telling her that her situation was “temporary” and that in just a few

hours it would all be over. They couldn’t have been more wrong. During the three hours at the abortion clinic, Yvonne was never advised what the long-term consequences would be. The true result of that abortion was the complete destruc-tion of her life for the next twenty years.

“…words cannot describe how wonderfully

I have been treated.”

2:40 I follow patient to her darkly tinted car and ask her to roll down the window; she gets out of the car. I tried to talk her into staying, but she states she has to leave. I am suspicious of her current drug use.2:45 Performed an ultrasound for a sweet young engaged couple who recently moved to town. This pregnancy wasn’t planned, but they are excited and want to do everything they can to have a healthy pregnancy. Gave them as much information as I could and signed them up for DUET (pregnancy and parenting education) classes. 3:30 Eating lunch while finishing charting and logs. 3:35 Kids called to say they made it home from school; instructions given to do chores and practice music. 3:45 Patient from two days ago returned call to get her ultrasound results. She was considering abortion as she has two children, one with very significant special needs, and no help from their fathers, who both have addiction issues. She states she has decided she is going to carry to term and parent due to her spiritual beliefs and the emotional toll abortion would have on her. Thank you Father! Task set up on calendar to call her in a week to check in. 4:00 New patient, who is a college student, arrived for a scheduled pregnancy test. She isn’t sure if she

read her test correctly at home. My test shows she is positive for pregnancy. She told her boyfriend, and although she knows for certain this baby is his, he is questioning her about paternity. An ultrasound is scheduled as patient wants to show him that this is his baby. She hasn’t told her parents, but she lives with them. She wants to wait until after the ultrasound and believes they will be supportive. She is tearful, as she is nervous about how this will change her life, but she is also worried about miscarriage and wants to do everything she can to be healthy. She will start by taking the vitamins given to her today. 4:45 Ultrasound reports filled out and faxed to radiologist 4:55 Garbages emptied, rooms tidied, logs locked up, ultrasound machine shut down, logged out of computer, lights off. 5:15 Call home to have kids start the rice cooker, leave the building and pray for Jesus to take all the patients’ burdens of the day before I get home.
