A beautifully illustrated story about making friends, featuring two much-loved characters

Peg and UanMaking Friends

SANDRA KLAASSENPeg the sheepdog puppy lives with her family on a remote Scottish Hebridean island. But Peg is no ordinary sheepdog — she’s afraid of sheep!

Then one day, the family rescues a baby lamb and calls her Uan, which means “lamb” in Gaelic. But Peg is a bit worried about living with a little lamb.

Will Peg and Uan ever become friends?

Bringing together beautiful illustrations from Sandra Klaassen’s much-loved picture books, Uan the Little Lamb and Peg the Little Sheepdog (see p. 16), this adorable board book introduces very young ones to these charming characters with a sweet story about friendship.

Ruby has to leave behind her broomstick (and walk everywhere — YUCK!) and her friends — no more watching Hex Factor together on a Saturday night. She's absolutely STARVING with no snack spell, and there's no way to get revenge on the mean girls at her boring new school without a good curse.

Since his dad literally did a vanishing act (he's a magician), Jay Patel has turned detective, and now, with the help of his granddad — the world's worst ghost sidekick — he’s on the case of a dead body that vanished from the library of his Glasgow primary school.

David MacPhail left home at eighteen to travel the world and have adventures. After working as a chicken wrangler, a ghost-tour guide, and a waiter on a tropical island, he now has the sensible job of writing children's books. David is also the author of Yeti on the Loose and the Thorfinn the Nicest Viking series.

TrespassersCLAIRE MCFALL

Tristan and Dylan have escaped the afterlife.

But fate never meant for them to live.

Dylan should have been killed in a horrific train crash. Tristan should still be a Ferryman, an immortal.

Now, living in bodies they have no right to inhabit, they discover they’re

connected by something stronger than love. Their souls are bound together. Apart, they’ll die.

When they broke through the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead they

defied the supernatural laws, and showed the way for others to escape. Now they must face

the consequences.

Can true love transcend destiny?

A love story like no other, richly imagined and beautifully told

Age 15+ | 198 x 130 mm | 320 pp | paperback | £7.99 each

FerrymanCLAIRE MCFALL

Dylan has escaped a horrific train crash unscathed.

Except she hasn’t.

The bleak landscape around her isn’t Scotland. It’s a wasteland haunted by wraiths searching for human souls.

And the stranger waiting for her isn’t an ordinary boy. Tristan is a Ferryman, tasked with transporting her soul safely to the afterlife, a journey he’s made a thousand times before.

Except this time, something’s different.

Torn between love and destiny, Dylan realises she can’t let Tristan go, nor can she stay with him. Eventually, inevitably, the wraiths would capture her soul and she would be lost forever.

Can true love overcome the boundaries of death?

Ding, ding! 3.25 pm on the button, my signal. The toilet door is closing as I exit the interview room. Skeates has the window jimmied open before I even get in there.

“You don’t muck about.” I look at the broken lock on the floor.

“We only have five minutes and you don’t exactly do warp speed,” he says.

“Funny, ha ha.” I grin. “I’m going to hoist you up. Sit on that windowsill until I get up,

then I can help you down.” He cups his hands, without waiting for me to complain.

I step into them with my good leg and he pushes. The sill is only about two metres from the toilet floor and I feel dizzy – I don’t like heights. But soon enough we’re in the alley below. I’m giggling nervously, but the giggles stop when I hear a shout from behind.

“Hoy you two, stop!” I see a man leaning out of a window on the top floor.“Come on,” shouts Skeates. “Sod him!”I’m too puffed to answer, so I follow him. We duck behind a

small building, squeeze through the side of a fence and out into a park. He keeps going, dragging me by the scruff of my jacket, until we are at the far side.

“Happy days,” he says, as we find safety behind a big shrub. He peers through the leaves. “All clear, but we need to move.”

The thrill of the escape and the potential chase have me all grinning and excited. “That was awesome.”
