We originally wrote My Mother's Lesbian Jewish W;ccan Wedding as a way for us to spend time together. II's basically just a show we performed at the 2009 Toronto Fringe Festival about our family and

we figured only a few people would see it, not even our families who are portraye In the stories. Instead, it got p'lcked up by Mirvlsh productions, played to almost 70.000 people across North America and has had a life ever since. We now spend all our time together as co-wnter/performers - and we are so grateful every lime we get to share these stories .

Even though Canada legalized same-sex marriage In 2005, homophobia IS still very present in this country - and we live above a country where this basic ciVIl right is still being debated. Despite MMLJWWs success, we sincerely hope that eventually a musical about two women failing in love and getting married will not

_ seem like such a big deal.

II's been a rue pleasure to work with everyone 1lere in Winnipeg (and to stay wiih Jolie and her furry family!) - Kayla, Brenda. Paul and the incredible cast, crew, stage managers, band and design team have taught us new things about our show every day - and Ihis is the debut of Bob Fosler's beautiful new orchestra­tions! Finally. we're thrilled to bring the show to the prairies for the first time. where

I David used to live, and later toured often as a singer/songwriter. and where our story tonight begins.

tAS1 David Hein David is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has toured North America , played numerous festivals , and released 4 CD's. He holds a BFA in theatre from York University. In 2009, he and Irene Sankoff wrote, produced , and starred in MMLJWW, which won "Outstanding New Musical~ and "Best Book" in the New York Musical Theatre Festival and was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award and Weston New Musical Award . MMLJWW has now played to over 65,000 people and wi ll continue to appear in theatres across North America this year. David and Irene are outspoken advocates for same-sex marriage. Irene Sankoff Irene co-wrote MMLJWWwith David Hein and originated the roles of 'Irene' and 'Michelle' for MMLJWW in NYC, Rochester and Toronto, fo r which she received a Broadway World nomination for Best Featured Ensemble. She holds an Acting MFA from the New School For Drama. Favorite roles: Amy Sweeney in Zero Hour: The Last Hour of Flight 11, one of the Top 10 History Channel prowams ,?f all ti n:e, Constance in Goodnight Desdemona. " Good Mornmg Juliet, Denise in Problem Child, and all 12 characters in the one-woman show, Moving at the Speed of Life. David and Irene are now working on their next musical , Come From Away.

Annabel Kershaw Annabel 's career has spanned several decades and many parts of Canada. She is happy to add Winnipeg to her list of citie , having longed to work here for many years. Last seen at the Vancouver Playhouse in La Cage Aux Folies (Dec., 2011 ), she has also . appeared in numerous Arts Club Theatre (Vancouver) productl?ns including My Fair Lady, Evita , Dinner With Friends and The Thmg About Men. She has earned two Jessie Richardson Awards, for her lead performance in Aunt Dan and Lemon and more recently in The Elephant Man. Film and TV appearances include Married Life with Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan, The Ciient List. The L Word and Jumanji. Annabel trained at Vancouver's Studio 58 and is.a proud member of the Canadian Actors ' Equity Association. She IS also a certified Yoga instructor.

Rosemary Doyle Rosemary Doyle comes directly from playing Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf at her own venue, the Red Sandcastle Theatre, in Toronto. Although Martha was "a blast to play," Rosemary admits it is lovely to be re tu rning to the beautifully functional couple of Claire and Jane in My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding. Rosemary originated the role of Jane in the break-out Toronto Fringe Festival 2009 production and the subsequent. celebra ted Mirvish Productions run.

John Bluethner John is a graduate of York University 's MFA program in theatre. Since then he has performed at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Stage West and Theatre Calgary. John is also no stranger to the stage at MTC, the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and at the National Arts Centre where he has performed in both French and English. He has numerous appearances with Le Cercle Moliere including last season's hit Le Ri'vnanl and he also played Gustav opposite his wife Susanna Portnoy in Creditors in last year's Master Playwright Festival. Film and TV appearances include The Lool out (2007) , Less Than Kind (2010) and The Haunting in Connecticut (2009).

Scott Peterson Scott Peterson is very excited to be working wi th such a great cast and crew on MMLJWW. He was recently seen at Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2011 in I Love You, Because (It's Who You Know Productions). He also performed the role of Friedrich In The Sound of Music (Rainbow Stage) in 2007. He would like to thank his friends and family for their unrelenting support.

Stephanie Sy Stephanie has always aspired to appear in a musical about Jewish Wiccan lesbians, and now her dream is finally coming true. Some of her favourite credits include: Avenue Q (District Theatre Collective), Romeo & Juliet (MTC), Velocity (Persephone Theatre). Miss Saigon (Rainbow Stage), Faust (us): a fantasy (U of W), Zanna Don't! (Stage16), and 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee (WST/Stage16). Look for her this summer as Rusty in Rainbow Stage's production of Foolloose. The power of love to her family, Jeremy, and Celine.

Kami Desilets Kami is a Winnipeg-based periormer wearing many hats on and off stage. Acting, singing dancing choreography, directing . writi ng , costuming - there 's nothing she won' t do for her I~ve ~f th eatr~ . ~ost recentl y she has been working on Joseph Aragon s third Illuminati musical for Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2012, and choreography for Rising Star Academy of Arts . Kami is thrilled to make her first appearance with Winnipeg Studio Theatre in this fun-fi lled show.

Adam Hurtig This is Adam's first time working wi th Winnipeg Studio Theatre and he is thrilled to be a part of such an amazing company. Some of Adam's favourite past cred its include The Christmas Heart (Lifetime Network ), The Don Cherry Story 2 and Rogue Cop (20 11 Fringe Festival). Look for Adam this year in the musical Fresher (WST) in th is year 's Winnipeg Fringe Festival!

Jaclyn Kurceba Jaclyn is a graduate of Tile Univers ity of Winnipeg theatre program and has been performing all her li fe . She began singing at an early age with years of classicallraining. However, mus i c~1 theatre ~as always been her real passion . Jaclyn has appeared In productIons throughout Australia and Canada. Recent works include Hair:' A Tribal Rock Musical (University of Winnipeg), Trailer Park The MusIcal (Look Left Productions) and Avenue Q (District Theatre Collective). Jaclyn is extremely excited and proud to be involved in the Winnipeg debut of MMLJVVW.

Director - Kayla Gordon Kayla began her career in musical theatre with Sundog Productions and soon moved on to periorm in many shows at Rainbow Stage, including Funny Girl, Kismet. Fiddler On The Roof and many others. Her directorial credits include hit musicals such as The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee, The Producers (MTC Lawyer show), Little Shop Of Horrors (PTE All-Dentist Musical). Hersteria (Wpg Fringe 2011 and more recently Spring Awakening (WST) and Altar Boyz (PTEI WST). Kayla also teaches Acting and Musical Theatre at the University of Winn ipeg.

Choreographer - Brenda Gorlick Brenda has been involved in the periorming arts world for more than 30 years as a performer, choreographer, director and coach . She is currently the Associate Artistic Director of Winnipeg Studio Theatre and Director of its training arm. StudioWorks . Her stunning choreography has earned her rave reviews in such productions as Urinetown (Persephone Theatre). Brenda's most recent works include Salome (Manitoba Opera), Spring Awakening (WST) and Altar Bayz (WST/PTE).

Musical Director - Paul De Gurse Paul 's recent theatre credits include Avenue Q (District Theatre Collecti ve). Zanna Don't! (Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2011 with Stage16), and Title of Show at Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2010 (pocket Frock Productions). He also recently appeared in the 201 1 Winnipeg Jazz Festival with the Paul De Gurse Quartet. He has a Bachelor of Jazz Studies from the Universi ty of Manitoba . Look for him at the 2012 Winnipeg Jazz Festival with the Lucas Sader Quintet.

Music Supervisor and Arranger - Bob Foster After a successful recording and performing career in England and Germany, Bob moved to Calgary in 1987, where he spent years re­cording and playing keyboards and guitar with Jann Arden, and co-writing songs such as "Good Mother," "It Looks Like Rain" and "Give Me Back My Heart. " He relocated to Toronto in 2003.

Theatre credi ts include: Billy Elliot. Rock Of Ages. Hairspray (Mirvish ), Evita. Camelot. Little Shop Of Horrors (MTC. Theatre Calgary), Sound Of Music. A Chorus Line (Stage West Calgary) and many, many more. Bob has been Music Director for Bjorn Aga in North America and has played or recorded with Mae Moore, Gaye Delorme, Paul Brandt and Bo Didd ley.

Set Designer - Brian Perchaluk Brian has designed sets and costumes for theatre, opera. and dance. His work has been seen on stages across the country, in Europe, and the US. This is his second production for Winnipeg Studio Theatre , having previously designed the set for "Spring Awakening".

Lighting Designer - Larry Isacoff Larry has designed lights for The Manitoba Theatre Centre, MTY P. Winnipeg Jewish Theatre, The Globe Theatre, Persephone Theatre, The Rubicon and PTE. He is delighted to be working with Kayla and Winnipeg Studio Theatre. Larry divides his time between engaging theatre projects and teaching yoga .

Costume Design - Alex Espinosa Alex has designed costumes for Altar Boyz (WST) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (WST). He worked as asssistant costumer for Wicked, Mamma Mia, and The Boys in the Photograph. Alex is a member of I.A.T.S.E. and he is founder and treasurer of the Winnipeg Fashion Incubator.

Alex has done volunteer work for Divercite of Montreal, Winnipeg and Vancouver, Gay Pride and the 2010 Winter Olympic & Para lympic Games in Vancouver. He also mentors emerg ing fashion designers,

Stage Manager - Sheena Sanderson Sheena is delighted to be a part of this fabulous cast of crew for MMLJWW'! This is her first engagement with Winnipeg Stud io Theatre.
