The advisory councils in architecture, town planning and environment (CAUE - Conseil d’Architecture, d’Urbanisme et de l’Environnement) were created in France by a 1977 act. Today, they are 91 of them all over the country. The common mission of these public status institutions is to promote quality. Young people education is one of their aims. The «Fédération Nationale des CAUE» gathers the different CAUEs and organizes national meetings on a regular basis to be more efficient. The goal of one of the working groups, « pedagogical practices for young people», is to collect the different experiences performed by architects from the different CAUEs in France and to promote them. A second step led to a publication realized by the CAUEs with teachers and researchers in education («50 activities to understand architecture and town planning with the CAUEs», Ed SCEREN, 2007). To give the opportunity to everyone to understand it through aesthetic, functional, social, political dimensions is fundamental as it is essential to live it through different experiences : emotion, knowledge, senses, creation… The book is mainly intended to help teachers to grasp architecture with students. As well as the CD, the web portal can be directly used by young people, at school or at home. They are given the opportunity to interact and suggest new contents, thus shaping a new architectural community .
