- What are your favorite subjects to photograph?

Someone who is on an adventure.

- Do you have any formal training in the art of photo-graphy?

I don’t, but I’ve read enough books and blogs to feel up to speed.

Page 13: FRINGE INDIE MAGAZINE Issue #12 August September 2010

- What inspired your interest in photography?

Seeing photographs that I find myself thinking about later, then going back to them and figuring out why. I love how subtleties of light, texture, and subject can

tell a story, or simply just stick in your head.

- What continues to inspire you?

Light. It wakes me up every morning, and yet it still gets ignored most of the time.

MUSIC REVIEW

It’s been a long ! me that the band guided by Courtney Love don't put out on sale an LP. This year

comes again to the light with "Nobody's daughter". But they don't go back with the en! re for-

ma! on; the only member that is s! ll in the band is Love. The band keeps the style anyway; the

idea of Courtney is to show the en! re world and herself that she was fi rst known as musician.

As I s! ll prefer "Celebrity Skin", "Nobody's daughter" s! lls reminds me the sense that charmed

me. This is for those who can accept the change.

MUSIC REVIEW

This band is a mix of Brian Eno (Danger mouth) and James Mercer, combina! on for an explosive

pop style. The combina! on of the melodies of Mercer and the lyrics by Eno complains to shine

with sweet and ascendant content, showing at fi rst place the “bombos” in a slow camera, the

melancholic line of hip-hop bass. A delicious piece to expand your musical culture. Most than

recommended!

Mersey Beat - Under what circumstances Mersey Beat was born in name and form?

It was somewhat by chance ... I was looking for bands to play, and went some ! me playing in bands in the city

but without much con! nuity. As I did not know many people in Quilmes, I signed the photoblog of "La Roca"

(a bar in Bernal) saying that I wanted to form a band. There Cris! an contacted me (a friend of the band) and

introduced me to Silvio (guitarist), who told me he wanted to form a Beatle band but it’s earliest ! mes, from

when they were not famous and playing in bars in Hamburg, Germany .

The name I suggested, on one side because of the River Mersey in England, and on the other side there was a

journal called Mersey Beat in those years. But the main reason is that Mersey Beat or Mersey Sound is the type

of music called "Beat" that emerged in Liverpool, England in the early 60s.

- How long have you played together?

Since the end of 2007. At fi rst we had another bassist and a drummer, in March 2008 Fede joined, recommen-

ded by a mutual friend and by mid 2009 Gabi joins by the hand of Fede.

Page 41: FRINGE INDIE MAGAZINE Issue #12 August September 2010

- What characterizes you as a band?

On the one hand, I believe that the equipment we use, they give us more like the sound of the era, the instru-

ments used is an important infl uence in the sound. Moreover, I think we have a way to play that shows how much

we enjoy it both in rehearsals and in vivo. I think if you are comfortable it moves to the playing.

- Have you had any proposals of great magnitude, musically speaking?

By the ! me we are playing in small places, we don’t have much ! me to search for dates or large fes! vals because

the four of us work-study and we are a bit complicated, but the idea is just to get more dates and make us be& er

known. For this we recorded a demo in the LPestudio (h& p://lpestudio.blogspot.com/).

- Already have a demo, tell me, how was the experience of recording?

I personally had a great ! me, I really love recording so when the opportunity arose to make the demo I did not

hesitate. It was a somewhat new experience for me since we recorded tracks, I was used to home recording,

playing live but you want to do something that sounds good so sincerely I loved it.

- The lyrics of the Beatles are very par! cular, which ones iden! fy each of you and why?

I think the best lyrics are those of the second period, ie, those wri& en from the album Revolver. Personally I love

the songs with orchestral arrangements like Eleanor Rigby and She is leaving home, or more themes combined

with the rock like I am the Walrus.

- How do you feel about the band’s improvement, and how do you think the public percep! on is?

I think the band grew a lot. Why? I think it is due to a combina! on, which is a cocktail of good musicians, pas-

sion and strength in what we do, fana! cism

and the music we represent and especially

a* tude. Something happens in the rehear-

sals which is very interes! ng, is proposing a

topic almost at random and out of a general,

and that's because we all know all the Beatles

songs.

- What show do you consider as the most im-

portant and why?

All shows were / are / will be important, be-

cause we really enjoy all and we are ge* ng

the juice of it all. Always gave 110% and stay

that way. On the other hand I might tell you

that the best one is always coming.

- What are your plans for this year?

Probably con! nue to expand the music of

the '60s in order to reach as many people as

possible. Some people have told me they did

not know certain songs that we do and they

loved them. That is our main aim precisely:

play songs that not everyone knows. We want

people to have the opportunity to learn about

these issues, because if you want to hear a

help or a hard days night, you can hear them

on the radio or on TV or online. But it is rare

you will encounter with a “Leave my ki& en

alone”.

- Finally, A wish for this year?

Peace and love!

The “F” Blog- When did you decided to start your blog and

how was the process?

I decided to start my blog about a year and a half

ago a4 er reading other blogs (Fashion Toast was

one of the fi rst that I started reading along with a

few others).

At fi rst I had no idea what I was doing (had no clue

how to upload photos properly or use a photo

hos! ng website, etc). But I started loving it right

away and knew it was something I was commit-

ted to.

- When did you realize you liked fashion?

I realized I liked fashion at an early age; but I

didn’t think about it as a career un! l the end of

high school. I almost went to university to beco-

me a teacher (thank God I didn’t); just because I

didn’t know what else I wanted to do and that’s

what all my friends were doing. Then I had some

sort of revela! on and decided I could go to school

for fashion.

- How would you defi ne your style?

That’s hard to defi ne (for me anyways). It so-

mewhat changes from day to day, depending on

how I feel. I usually like to dress pre& y simple and

laidback. I love black, vintage, and things with an

ethnic feel. I think I like to mix grunge and hippie

vibes together…

- To know you a li& le bit more, who are your fas-

hion references and icons?

I don’t believe in having a muse or an icon really.

I don’t want to look or dress like someone else, I

just want to be myself. Of course there are many

people and things that I fi nd inspiring, the biggest

one being just people and life in general. Others

include: Jim Morrison (the Doors), Penny Lane in

Almost Famous, Sharne Sco& , and MK Olsen.

- We can see through your ou= its that black is an

outstan! ng color in your wardrobe, what advise

would you give on how to style it?

Black is a pre& y easy colour to wear- probably

the easiest actually. The only advice I would have

about it is that if you’re going to wear alot of black

at once- make it abit more interes! ng with diff e-

rent textures or propor! ons.

- What importance do you give to jewellery while

crea! ng an ou= it?

I love jewellery, but I don’t base my ou= it around

it. I usually throw it on at the end. I am one of tho-

se people that tends to have a few key favourite

pieces and wear them non-stop for a few months.

And then I change it up and the cycle starts over

again. Especially with rings (right now it’s a big sil-

ver one, a skull, and a turquoise/silverish one). I

think rings are my favourite, I am always looking

for new ones.

- For what we’ve seen so far you are a hats fan,

how many do you have and which one is your fa-

vorite, why?

I actually don’t have that many hats, only 5 I think.

My favourite is a big cream coloured one from

TopShop. I am looking for a similar one in black,

but can’t fi nd one anywhere.

- Besides managing your blog, what do you do for

living? Does it involve art and crea! vity?

Well, before I moved to London I was a freelance

stylist in Toronto as well as an assistant fashion

editor at a Canadian magazine. I really loved it,

but decided I wanted to travel before se& ling into

a real job. So I le4 it behind and moved to Lon-

don with some friends and am now concentra! ng

on travelling and living my life to the fullest! So, I

guess I am a stylist… just not working at the mo-

ment.

- This is our FIM obligatory ques! on: Do you fo-

llow trends or try to build them yourself?

I think it’s hard to ignore trends and I’m sure

Page 57: FRINGE INDIE MAGAZINE Issue #12 August September 2010
Page 58: FRINGE INDIE MAGAZINE Issue #12 August September 2010
Page 59: FRINGE INDIE MAGAZINE Issue #12 August September 2010

they infl uence my style in some

way or another, but I defi nitely

don’t base my ou= its/wardrobe

on them. If something comes

along that I feel would work with

my style, I wear it, regardless

if it’s a “trend” or not. I pre& y

much will wear anything as long

as I love it and feel comfortable

in it.

- Favourite place to shop?

Vintage/markets.

- What was the last thing you’ve

bought?

A bunch of stuff from Monki (a

sheer oversized black dress, ha-

rem pants, crop top, long grey

skirt, etc) when I was in Stoc-

kholm last week.

- What is your best kept secret

in fashion (that you can reveal

to our readers)?

I don’t have one… just be your-

self and wear what makes you

happy. That’s not a secret rea-

lly.

- What other blogs do you re-

commend us and who would

you like to be the next "blogger

of the moment"?

The blog I read everyday without

a doubt is Knightcat. I also love

the girls of BleachBlack as well

as Anywho. I think Chris! ne of

“christeric” is pre& y rad too! visit her blog at: www.thefblog.com
