FRIENDSHIP DAY celebrated by Middle School students
Friends share all our ups and downs in life. Secrets which cannot be shared with parents,
can be shared with friends. Friendship is a band which ties two souls together. Friendship
starts even before you enter the world, it starts in your mother's womb.
On the 7th of August, friendship day is celebrated all over the world. Friendship Day was
originated by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark cards in 1930, intended to be 2 August
and a day when people celebrated their friendships by holiday celebrations.
In honor of Friendship Day in 1998, Nane Annan, wife of UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan, named Winnie the Pooh as the world's Ambassador of Friendship at the United
Nations.
As a celebration of friendship day at JSSPS, an activity was conducted for the students of
the middle school.
Students were called from different grades and we got to write about our good friends on a
sticky note. All the sticky notes were then stuck on the wall. This made us realise how we
really feel about our friends.
Good friends within the student body even gave small gifts to each other as a token of their
friendship. There were many different types of gifts including bracelets, cards, friendship
bands and more.
Friendship day is a very joyful occasion. It makes us realize the importance of friendship in
our lives. So cherish your close friends because friends are precious.
