More open days and more visitors to Kinneil House in 2014. A slower start to 2015, but great feedback

Big Roman Week a real success in 2013.

One of our biggest programmes to date, including fantastic walks and events along the Antonine Wall.

Our reporting year kicked off with our Night at Kinneil House and Museum in May 2014. It was one of our most successful open evenings to date.

We also opened the House for the first time at night.

153 visitors in an HOUR and 70 folks on a bat walk!

Plus music from Kinneil Youth Band.

2013. In response to feed

Victorian Street FairWe had a publicity stall at the Victorian Street Fair in May 2014, helping to promote the new John Muir Way. There was also a Treasure Hunt around the Town Centre.

Volunteers honouredOur volunteers were honoured at the CVS Awards Ceremony in June.

Baton arrives!The baton relay for the Commonwealth Games arrived at Kinneil House in June.

Music in the HouseJune ended with renaissance music at Kinneil House

Events continueThere was no Heritage Day in August – so a drop in Kinneil House visitors ...

But a well-received Big Roman Week in September

Spreading the wordWe did a talk on Kinneil – and our work – for Grangemouth Rotary Club in September.

Hallowe’en at KinneilWe had one of our most successful Hallowe’en open days, attracting 330 people in just three hours to Kinneil House!

We also provided prizes for the best dressed children.

Bingo time!To raise funds in November we held a Bingo Night in Kinneil Bowling Club, raising more than £500.

A big thanks to the club for its support.

The month ended with another talk – this time to Falkirk Rotary Club.

Movie timeWe supported the Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema with an open morning at Kinneil House in March 2015, complete with movie props!

World Heritage Our April openings also co-incided with World Heritage Day, earning us lots of extra publicity.

Foreshore/Nature ReserveAs well as Kinneil Estate, we’ve also been busy helping to transform and develop Kinneil Nature Reserve – or the Foreshore.

Inner Forth Landscape Initiative on a Heritage Lottery Funded project to improve local areas, including Kinneil Nature Reserve and Kinneil Estate.

PartnershipsWork has included reconciliation works at Kinneil Kirk (and the publication of a book by Falkirk Community Trust).

We’ve continued to support the John Muir Way which runs through the Estate and Foreshore.

PartnershipsWe’ve also worked closely with Historic Scotland, Falkirk Council and Falkirk Community Trust.

This has resulted in a new masterplan for Kinneil being approved. More of that later.

Member events/activitiesMore than 60 people attended the annual James Watt Supper in January.

A big thanks to Ian Scott and friends for providing great entertainment.

Developing a future strategyDelivered! We worked with Falkirk Community Trust and consultants (with funding from Heritage Lottery Fund, Falkirk Council and The Friends of Kinneil) to revamp Kinneil Museum.

The new-look ground floor was launched in March 2015.
