Economic stagflation & stagnant infrastructure
Weak government
National (in)security high
Federalism under threat: Naxals/Violence/Separatism
Political system that discourages the young & well-meaning to join
Apathy to politics & civil society
Low voter turnout
Not demanding action from representatives
Accepting mediocrity
Each of us content to let things go downhill
Self & family above everything else
What about future generations?
India is not at its best But, We Got It Here 2
This is a unique moment in India’s history
Let us not be silent spectators again
Let us not lose another five years
We can create a better future for us and our children

Being Educated & Well Meaning alone not enough
Need to be a Socially Active Civil Society
So, at least Vote – don’t holiday
If possible, Campaign
Build two-way governance process
Demand the Best from Ourselvesand from Society
A credible, strong Central government
Good Governance is Our Right
Accountability & transparency is the Government’s duty
Let us build
A platform for our voices
A vision for India
Define action points, milestones and timelines

We have tools to organise & communicate
2004 was the last traditional election
One-way, Top-down, politics
‘Divide-and-rule’, urban v rural
2009 can be a new beginning
Participative, Emergent Voters
Today, let us discuss this, articulate our thoughts, refine our approach, and ACT!

Not all signed-up BJP members, but believes that BJP best for India

Spread word & mobilise support: socially, within peer groups

Ongoing: does not stop with elections, continual engagement

SHAPING INDIA’S RESURGENCE: MISSION 200 in 2009
Middle class: 30 crore +
Younger, more urban
Communication-enabled Mobile phones: 38 crore
Cable & Satellite homes: 8 crore
Goal: Getting BJP to win 200 seats on its own in 2009
Need to win marginally lost seats
Need to revive in urban areas
Retain 130 of the seats from 2004
Focus on winning additional 50-75 seats
Target 1 lakh new voters in each of the seats
Only 38 crore (of eligible 58 crore) people voted in 2004
NDA had 0.25% votes morethan UPA – but 37 less seats
