Finalized Rosters

• We have 20 members• The following have not given me their paperwork:

Marathon Viewings

• Marathon Viewings are OPTIONAL• They give Film Club a chance to watch a trilogy or 5-part

series back to back. • In December: 12/14, 12/15, 12/16• In May: 5/17, 5/18, 5/19, 5/20, 5/21

Officer Elections

• The following have expressed interest in an officer position. – Vice President– Secretary– Treasurer

• Remember, you must prepare a short, 1-minute speech for our next early release meeting (11/4)

• Voting will be held after meeting ends. • Officers will be announced on our November viewing (11/20)

Club Dues

• Film Club Dues are due today!• If you are unable to pay, see me after the Viewing today to

make special arrangements. • You can pay in installments ($3/month) or at once ($25/year)• This helps us with snacks, drinks, and movie rentals. It does

not go to waste!

Format For Viewings

• October/November: Mr. Hampton selects films to watch• December/January: Film Club Members vote on what film to

watch.• February-May: Each officer will be given a month…they will

pick a film be responsible for explaining and showing that film.

• Treasurer = February• Secretary = March• Vice President = April• President = May

Guidelines for Selecting a Film

• Must be G, PG, or PG-13 (with special permission)• You must make a PowerPoint/presentation of some sort that

has a pre-viewing and a post-viewing discussion—in other words, why do you like the film or find it important?

• Mr. Hampton will model for the first few viewings.

Film Terminology

• Long shot: full subject, surrounding scene• Medium shot: waist-up• Close up: face or body part

• Low angle: subject is shot from below• High angle: subject shot from above• Dutch angle: subject is shot tiled to one side

• Soft focus: object is out of focus• Deep focus: background and object are in equal focus• Rack focus: shifts focus back and forth between objects.

“simpler” times.– This film does a good job with

showing you how the 1950’s really were—they had the same problems as us—it was NOT a simpler time!

– The characters in this story grow up just like us—they have problems and come to revelations about their lives.
