KAREN YAMAMOTO HACKLER is an actress, director, playwright, and storyteller with a healthy addiction: TRAVEL! She was last seen in Kumu Kahua’s ‘A Cage of Fireflies’ last season. She returns to Talk Story with When the Dead Lovingly Linger. After hearing exciting tales of visits from deceased loved ones, Karen awaits her Mom’s visit. KATHY COLLINS (Maui) is the CEO/ DJ of the wildly popular and eclectic Mana‘o Radio. Her comedic alter ego, the pidgin-spouting 'Tita,' brings down houses wherever she goes. She will interpret a tale from the Pele & Hi‘iaka Epic in A Tale of Two Titas, Part 1. Saturday night she will tell Part 2. 7:00 LYN FORD (Columbus, Ohio) returns for the 4th time with a new book, ‘Affrilachian Tales,’ and a National Storytelling Network ‘Circle of Excellence’ award. KILOHANA SILVE discovered that storytelling was a powerful part of teaching Hawai‘i’s history and culture when she lived in Europe. Her Paris hālau celebrates its 25th year next summer. Her “Hawai‘ian Storytime” CD includes her favorite tales. She will present Hawaiian Supernatural Tales, true tales of ‘aumakua, appearances in the night, and talking rocks. Can ‘aumakua actually travel to foreign lands to kōkua?! ANNE SHIMOJIMA (Chicago, Illinois) is a retired librarian revered for her rich sparse narrative style. She has performed at the Exchange Place, National Storytelling Festival, and in all types of venues across the country. She will share Wicked John and the Devil - a wicked blacksmith gets the better of the devil himself. In The Weeping Lass at the Dancing Place - a woman learns grieving can bring back the dead.

LOPAKA KAPANUI is a kumu hula, ghost lore author and Ghost Tour leader (Aulani Hotel & by appointment). He returns to Talk Story to tell Manawa (Time). In 1997, the ghost of a 17 year old girl returned to save the life a young girl. Sixteen years later, in 2013, the ghost does it again.

ANNE SHIMOJIMA, JEFF GERE and LYN FORD together tell the macabre folktale, Mr. Fox, by passing the tale between them. Host JEFF GERE (DPR's Drama Specialist) was born on Halloween. He created the Talk Story Festival in 1989. “Creating this event as the best setting possible to hear & tell exceptional tales, island tales, with island tellers and visiting friends has become one of the great joys in my life.”
