Yorkton Bicycle Safety Week May 13 - 19“Be a Hero – Wear A Helmet” is the theme for this year’s Bicycle Safety Week. • Events for grade three students are being held at all eight elementary schools

in Yorkton. The kickoff will be at MC Knoll and St. Michael’s Schools, Tuesday, May 14, 9:30 am.

• Events at each school will include a bicycle rodeo, bike safety presentations and colouring contests. Two winners of the contest will receive a new bike provided by Canadian Tire.

• Bicycle registration is mandatory in Yorkton with the $5 registration fee waived for this week only. Bicycles may be registered at the Gallagher Centre Kiosk.

Sponsors include: Canadian Tire, Saskatchewan Prevention Institute, SGI, Yorkton Active Transportation Cooperative, City of Yorkton and Sunrise Health Region.

To encourage participation, the City will waive the landfi ll entrance fee for residential waste (excluding recyclables) for cars, half ton trucks and single axle utility trailers for this period.

REFUSE COLLECTION REMINDER

To ensure the weekly collection of your residential

refuse cart, please follow these simple steps:• Keep the lid closed with the wheels of the cart against the curb. • If there is a snow bank built up along the curb, ensure the cart is

out further than the snow bank. • Refrain from parking on the street on collection day, however, if

there are vehicles on the street, please make sure there is adequate room for the garbage truck to safely reach the cart(minimum of one meter).

• Collection times may vary; please have your CART OUT THE NIGHT BEFORE your assigned collection day to avoid missing collection.

• CARTS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE STREET THE SAME DAY that they have been emptied and stored on your property.

Other important facts to remember:• Carts are assigned to each specific address. Do not remove the

cart if you relocate to another address.• Inform Ottenbreit Sanitation of any damage, vandalism or theft

of the cart. • You are responsible for your cart so PLEASE TAKE CARE OF IT.

Parks Division – Arena and Sport FieldCompetition Number: 2013-22

Arena & Sport Field Employees in this stream will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Kinsmen Arena, sport fields, and recreation facilities. The Kinsmen Arena operates from mid August to mid April. Employees will assist in the arena ice maintenance program along with ensuring a safe working environment. Employees will also work closely with user groups and provide first class customer service through facility operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:•Installation and maintenance of the ice •Custodial duties for the building (Kinsmen Arena)•Building maintenance including minor carpentry and plumbing tasksIn the summer season, responsibilities will include:•Maintain sporting fields and recreation facilities (ball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts)• Participate in other areas of the Department including pest control, refuse collection and grass cutting
