Physiological Prosthetics – A Triple Win Situation
New polymer-reinforced materials are gaining more significance in restorative dentistryand prosthetics. Their biocompatibility, resilience, resistance, easy handling estheticsenable new therapeutic approaches. The new and vast range of variants and possibil-ities in therapy has to be condensed through experience to the best practice. This view includes first the patient’s needs and comfort, as many of these treatments
already comply to physiological issues. Some of the anatomical issues are going tobe brought back in mind and the matching solutions presented. Further on it will showhow all members of the dental, chirurgical and medical team also take profit fromthese new procedures.

Essential Steps in Aesthetic Rehabilitation
The ultimate success of any treatment depends on the execution of a detailed planoutlined in advance, and one would not be wrong in saying that the pivotal role in thisplan is played by the diagnostic wax-up.In this discussion, we shall be assessing the ability of the diagnostic wax-up to steer
an entire treatment plan – from basic aesthetic restorations right up to completerehabilitations. In turn, we shall examine the possibilities offered by the GEO ExpertWax Set from Renfert as a teaching material for correctly distributing the volume ofdentine and enamel in the ceramic layering, not forgetting its invaluable contributionto improving communication between dentists, technicians and patients. We shall also try to provide an answer to the question of which materials should be
selected in order to satisfy aesthetical and mechanical expectations. Finally, we shallbe updating the aesthetic parameters by reviewing the kit’s shade and communicationconcepts, in doing so arriving at level 2.0, as is now possible with today’s technology.

Digital Dentistry – Endless Possibilities
Throughout the years, restorative trends and techniques have come and gone. Somematerial developments have transformed the face of aesthetic dentistry, while otherinitial concepts have phased out and died. Yet, the concept of digital dentistry is onethat started out small, and has progressively increased in momentum until itsboundaries appear to have become endless. As dentistry evolves into the digital world, the successful incorporation of computerization and new technology will continue toprovide more efficient methods of communication and fabrication while at the sametime retaining the individual creativity and artistry of the skilled dental technician, andthe utilization of new technology will enhanced the close cooperation and workingrelationship of the dentist/technician team. The evolution from hand waxing to digitaldesign, using the diagnostic wax-up and provisional restorations, and their digitalreplicas to guide us in the creation of cad-cam restorations will be presented. The most exciting factor surrounding these technologies is not, however, only in the
potential applications of these technologies that are being hypothesized by dentalprofessionals. The excitement truly lies in the fact that these “hypothetical” applications are
currently being developed today, and some are even in the final stages of development. These advancements are not, therefore, something that will “eventually” emerge inthe market, they are realities that are currently being released to further revolutionizethe quality of dental care that is being delivered in modern restorative dentistry.
Aspects to be covered:• Adapting conventional techniques to CAD-CAM technology• Dentist/technician communication• Intra-oral scanning• Digital Implant, planning, surgical guides, final restorations• Restorative material choices
• Esthetics and function• Diagnostic treatment planning• Digital Diagnostic Wax up• Digital Temporary restorations• Milling vs Printing• Cultural vs Technological changes
Lee Culp, CDT is the CEO of Sculpture Studios, a dentallaboratory, an education and, research center, for new and
innovative digital dental technologies, and their applied applicationsto diagnostic, restorative and surgical dentistry.

One Denture Patient – Two solutions (A look into analog and digitalmethods of denture fabrication)
Dentistry is changing. CAD/CAM technologies are already prevalent in many officesand laboratories today. These technological advances in fixed prosthodontics havesimplified case planning and prosthetic fabrication. Even within the specialty of complete dentures, digital solutions are growing rapidly. However, is a digital solutionalways the right one? What is the comparison of analog denture methodology, timeframe, and final results to digital dentures? This course will provide the attendees with a look into a live comparison case study
done with both analog and digital methods. This case will contain anatomical anom-alies, which require specific techniques for custom tray fabrication, impression taking, and tooth setup. The course will contain photographic documentation along with videofootage of patient visits, clinical techniques, and laboratory techniques in both typesof complete denture fabrications. The information will not only be focused on the comparative study, but also the
methods used to create a quality removable prosthetic.
Oscar Galvis is a Certified Dental Technician in Complete Dentures,as well as a Master Dental Technician. He also has a Bachelorsin Health Science Allied Dental Concentration. Oscar has a his-tory of working with universities such as Rutgers School ofDental Medicine and CUNY’s New York City College of Tech-nology. He currently works as an adjunct lecturer at NYCCTteaching complete denture courses, at his family owned dentalpractice where he runs the Removable and CAD/CAM depart-
ments, and also owns his own business of dental instructionalvideos. His videos have been used in multiple courses at Rutgers School
of Dental Medicine and his website is soon to be launched which will include Hygiene,General Dentistry, Dental Assisting and Dental Technology. With a strong passion foreducation, Oscar has even developed a course to aid technicians in preparing for thepractical exam in order to become a Certified Dental Technician in Complete Denturesat NYCCT. His goal is to blend new technology with the experience of past techniquesand theory, knowing when to use analog or digital methods, and providing a betterexperience for the dentist, technician, and patient.

Advancements in Implant Overdentures - How to Solve Problems?
Recent studies indicate that the implant supported overdenture is the fastest growingarea of dentistry. Free-standing abutments screwed into traditional implants have be-come the most popular way to retain an overdenture. New bar systems will be presentedwhich can be used in CAD/CAM milled designs or with traditional cast techniques tosolve problem implant placements. New abutment systems will be presented whichallow for true angle correction of misaligned implants, while controlling costs.
