PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The future of health care

George Savvides

As governments, health insurers and fund holders seek to optimise patient health and reduce health care expenditure, the pressure

is on health care professionals to provide evidence based and cost effective ways to improve health outcomes for consumers.

Improving pharmacists' remuneration: the plan to

get there

Michael Dooley, Geoff March, George Tambassis, Rachel Dienaar,

and Michelle Lynch

The changes introduced by various governments to health system funding

have negatively impacted on the viability, profitability and attractiveness of pharmacy as a long-term career proposition. Critical

to building a better pharmacy future is pharmacist remuneration.

Cutting edge care: the next generation of collaborative

pharmacist/GP practice

Frank Jones, Leanne Wells, Deidre Criddle, Lisa Nissen and Walter Kmet

As support for patient-centred care within a primary health model gains momentum,

what should collaborative pharmacist-GP care look like for patients? What are the roadblocks

and enablers to achieving this care?

Implementing innovation: the 6CPA Pharmacy Trial Program

Leanne Wells, George Tambassis, Shane Jackson, and Claire O’Reilly

The 6PCA Pharmacy Trial Program (PTP) provides a great opportunity to redefine

pharmacy and pharmacist practice in Australia. Get a better understanding of the

status and on progress of the PTP and its relevance to the future role of pharmacists.

Alan Russell Oration – All Together Now: New

Relationships, New Priorities

Mark Pesce

Now that everyone is connected and carries an exceptionally powerful smartphone

with them nearly all the time, everything about the practice of medicine will change.

The first and most profound change will see a migration from critical care and

periodic testing to continuous care and continual monitoring. Individuals will remain

connected with their healthcare providers from the moment of birth.
