Freshers Day 2010

June 2010 INVITATION TO CIRENCESTER COLLEGE FRESHERS' DAY Thursday July 2010 We are delighted that you have applied to Cirencester College and that you have been offered a place. If you are taking GCSEs we wish you every success. As the next step we are pleased to invite you to our College Freshers' Day on Thursday 1 July, which is for all students intending to join the College in September. Please arrange to arrive in the College Refectory between 11.00 and 11.15am. You will have received details of our regular college bus services but on College Freshers' Day we will run our buses, later to get you here by 11.15am. I enclose a timetable for the college buses on College Freshers’ Day. There will be no charge for using the buses on this day. Don't worry if there is a big queue of students waiting outside the College on Freshers' Day, staff and Student Ambassadors will be on hand to direct you into the Refectory. In the Refectory you will see a row of desks with letters above them, go to the letter of your surname and you will be shown where your group for the day will meet. Once with the group you will be given a chance to find out more about the College with your fellow students. The College Refectory will be open all day and other food will be available at lunchtime, a menu is enclosed, so do bring some money! We will take a photo for your student card during the day. There will be loads of activities in the informal time at lunch, including the Freshers’ Fair, music and a chance to meet your subject teachers. The day will end no later than 3.15 pm and the usual College buses will leave here between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. If you are a Sports Diploma, Public Services Diploma or Outdoor Pursuits student, you may need some comfortable clothes and trainers as there will be some activities. Full sports kit is not required. If you would like to pay your transport fees on the day, we will collect them in the first session. We enclose a leaflet to tell you about the Charitable Trust; in the current climate of cuts we would be delighted if you were able to make a donation either to the Trust or to Cirencester College by cheque. These can also be collected in the first session. If, for any reason, you have chosen to give up your place at Cirencester College, please write to us so that I can offer the place to someone else. Finally, we shall be telling you about the arrangements for the start of term in September and showing you where to find your holiday work, so please let us know in writing if you are unable to come by e-mail to [email protected] or by letter to Clare Hunt. We will then make alternative arrangements to provide you with the necessary information. We all look forward to meeting you at the College and do hope you have a great day.
