You were once a part of a signed pop group…what was that like?My experience being in a signed group is an ex-perience that I truly appreciate, I didn’t love it but I’m grateful n I’d do it again!! To be fair I didn’t get a chance to show my creativity be-cause the group was manufactured- as in the la-bel put us together so we all had a role to play, my role didn’t highlight my personality but they made me look hot as fuck- ain’t nothing wrong with getting winks from both sexes,..gotta give them that! Being signed made me realize that the industry is no different to winning the lot-tery- lot of politics so its essential that the in-dustry is on your side! From being signed n then getting dropped made me realize how badly I wanted to be in the industry... But i want to be in it on my terms! I don’t want to conform. I’m not trying to be the next superstar! I just wanna be Azi Aishling!! I want to have fun- I want to touch people’s lives and I want to be respected!! So to sum it up my experience in a signed pop group taught me that if you wanna be the shit then you have to be treated like shit!!

Your video “Cruisin” really built up your fan base. How did you come up with the concept?I came up with the concept when I was sad one day!! It was when I first came to Miami n I re-alized I didn’t have no friends- I had people around me but they weren’t me friends... Cruisin is about depression, it’s about being surrounded by so many people n not one person you can call your friend!! When I first came to Miami people

couldn’t accept the fact I was different!! I’m black n irish- I’m was raised in one of the roughest areas in Dublin, it was so bad that it was demolished, and to top it off my family was the only black family so of course I’m not your typical black female- my mannerism are differ-ent and I handle situations different, i don’t do drama n I don’t hold grudges!! Cruisin reflect a sad mood I was in, even when I’m sad i still do me, I don’t care what anybody says about me whether good or bad! My mother did not me on this earth to seek opinions! She born me to make a difference! My name Azi means First Lady, I move like a First Lady! I’m respectful, polite and a damn good friend!! I’m Azi Fukin Aishling

Being from a mixed decent (Black and Irish), how did this affect your musical tastes & your experiences in the industry?I’m very open minded, I love all genres of mu-sic- from Enya To Eminem! I love music!! I’m obsessed with ethnic music.... Recently I’ve been obsessed with Spanish music so when I hear it i can’t help but spazz like a crack head to it!! But being Black n Irish has played a major role!! The African side to me makes me wax the floors with my ass to classical music!!!

What sets you apart from all the others trying to crowd your lane?I’m in no lane ninja.... I’m in my own world!! Ill tell another artist my plan and they won’t ex-ecute it like me!! My talent is my finger print!!!

Where else will people find you/your work?People can find my work on www.youtube.com/aziaishling - right now I have 4 very dif-ferent visuals on there!! The reason for that is I don’t want people to pigeon hole me, I’m a new age artist! When people ask me what my style is I say it’s Azi Fuking Aishling, I’m the in-dustries answer to Mary Poppins! I’m a box of tricks- I jus want me music to encourage other artist to embrace themselves in everything they do! From doing well in school to walking into a room full of strangers! Jus be an A+ of your-self!!! Don’t listen to mean people! My motto is, it’s easier to be positive than negative!! Live life and enjoy it! Also aswel people can check out my twitter which is www.twitter.com/azi-aishling - I’m mad honest on my twitter, so feel free to reach out to me- if I get carried away, put me in my place!!! I’ve a FB page too it’s www.facebook.com/officialaziaishling !! Now for all you people that love looking at pictures I got an Instagram! My Instagram is the gateway to my life! I put alot of personal pics on there!! Also my instagram is where ill officially announce official news! Ill do it by taking a picture- I owe my fans that, this is not just my journey this is everybody that loves me’s journey!!

Too many artists are forced to conform to fit in, get on or get over. When an artist decides that those options aren’t the options for them, that’s when true art emerges. From the ashes of her own musical past rises a phoenix named Azi Aishling, a Black and Irish songbird from the UK. And she’s here to take the world by storm.

“Cruisin reflect a sad mood I was in, even when I’m sad i still do me, I don’t care what anybody says about me whether good or bad! My mother did not me on this earth to seek opinions! Living in NJ, who were the producers that did inspire you?To be honest there are only a few producers in NJ that re-ally impacted the way I produce music. I currently live in Pennsauken NJ, which is South of New Jersey about 5 min outside Philly. So, with that said producers who impacted me indirectly and directly are Jahlil Beats, Tone the Beat Bully, Wala Beats as well as Stephen “Stro” Tucker. These are pro-ducers in my area who I enjoy listening to, and learn some-thing from when listening to their music.

How did you get your artist name?Well my artist name is WajuBeats, and to be honest my girl-friend Hannah gave it to me one day as I was making music. It was a funny story because people use to call me Ldezze and she made fun of the name to the point that I thought I needed to change it hahaha so I did. And, I consider her my good luck charm so im sticking with it!

Can you present us your team?Streetracer Productions is a music production company found-ed Warren “Wala Beats” Adams, Cameron Price, as well as myself Lanre “WajuBeats” Odunlami. The company name is a metaphor . Usually Streetracers are fast, cool, calm, and fresh, which are all things we see in ourselves and company. Our motto is: “Stay in the fast lane”. We pride ourselves on mak-ing original music that’s able to spark an emotion amongst our listeners and artist we deal with. Our team consist of: Myself as the head producer, Wala beats as another head producer, Cameron Price as Video Director, Marty Mar and the engineer, Chaz Moss as our A&R to pros-pect new talent Hannah Magnussion who handles the social media aspect of things

What do you use to create your sound? All of us use fruityloops and our keyboards. A very, very sim-ple setup but we are able to get a great sound out of it. The mentor to our company Stephen “Stro” Tucker is also always there to supply us with new VSt’s , plugins and sounds for our setup.

With all those new softwares, is is harder to shine in the beat industry?Yes it is, and it does saturate the market but it makes for fun competition!

How do you define your sound? The sound that we like to classify our beats is swag music! Hahah very simple. The chords, sounds, instruments, and drums just provokes a remarkable emotion from our listen-ing and in the end we call that emotion swag!

How do you imagine the future of Hip Hop?I really don’t know the future of hip hop music, im not a fu-ture teller, but I know whatever it is Streetracer Productions will be right there with it!

Do you work other genres of music?Yes of course. We don’t only make hip hop music. We make cinematic music, rock music, pop/house music, and etc. Other genres that we love is House Music, pop, and cin-ematic music. These are all genres of music that brings a strong emotion out of us, and that’s what we feed off of.

What’s new for you in 2013?So far this year we did song with Peedi Crakk, E.Dott, Da-mian Johnson, Marty Mar, and plenty of other artist. Cur-rently the new projects we are dealing with are coming out of Canada with an artist who is on the show Degrasse and we are doing projects with an agent name Adele Armas from London. So this year should be great and we hope that our fans and new fans enjoy the music we make.

The War PathBy Joseph “NeX” Tchume

For some, the streets are a place they call home, while for others it is a path to who they are. Regardless of where it takes you, the streets always pull you back…where you end up is on you. Enter WarChyld, a product of the streets of Philly who also called New Jersey and Mi-ami home. As he speaks about his project The Streets Is Back, you can see that although he’s not there right now he’s still there right now.

“I felt like the industry is watered down in a lot of aspects of hip hop, so I wanted to bring back the raw essence of what hip hop is to me” says War. “That straight raw needs to come back to the forefront. That’s why Amina Diop (www.melanzh.com) felt DJ Kay Slay was perfect for this project. He’s the #1 DJ in New York City and he IS the streets. “

Looking over the tracklist, I can see he went straight to the streets when it was time for guest appearances. The title track “The Streets Is Back” gives the listener a grimy, high energy beat that more than per-fectly paired with the killer verses by legends Capone(of CNN) and Billy Danze (of M.O.P. ). “Capone is a real dude” WarChyld observes as he listens to the record. “He helped me orchestrate everything. He’s a mentor who embraced me and showed me love. He

showed up to my little brother’s funeral, hung out in my city and guid-ed me through this mixtape. That’s my nigga for life. He actually hooked up Billy Danze. I told him how I’d love to have him on the record since M.O.P. are the streets and I’m a huge fan. Capone made that call and Danze listened to the track, and he felt it and showed love. He gave me a lot of tools to use in this industry and for that Danze is my nigga for life too.”

At the mention of his brother Sean Stoney who passed away this sum-mer, you see a change in him. “Losing my brother was such a dam-aging blow to the heart, I felt like there was no turning back. This is what my brother wanted me to do. He was always the main inspira-tion to my grind because he felt no matter what I was destined to do it, and he wanted me to do it. When he left all I could think about was how I can’t let him down and I gotta carry his name on for him and his kids and be that legend he wanted me to be for him and his kids. Losing him made me even more hungry, turning this into a life or death situation for me. Failure is not an option.” Reflecting on the people that came in and out his life brought us to another feature on the project most didn’t expect: the double life serving Rosco P. Cold-chain of Star Trak.

Warchyld

Page 27: FRESH MR DREAMZ WARCHYLD LIMITED

“Me & Sco did that track years ago. It was on the 1st mixtape I ever put together calledHot 16’s when we were in 4th Level Studios in Philly. We vibed and we bust it up, and he’s such a real dude. Not to get into his situation, but I feel like the whole world missing on Rosco P. Coldchain. He’s a raw dude that brought a lot of energy to Pharell’s label (Star Trak) & he was representing Philly HARD! That’s my nigga for life, and I wanna say free Rosco P. Coldchain! We keeping you in our prayers for-ever and we putting this on here to remind cats not to forget a fallen star and to keep his legacy alive”.

Looking at the list of legends on the tracklist, you could see where War-Chyld was going with the mixtape. There was artists that most east coast artists don’t get to work with. “My man Big NeX (www.MusicVideo-Vixens.com) said Mistah Fab would be a good fit for a record with me and he got in my ear about it. I bang with Fabby, the homie showed love and killed the track, really an exclusive banger. My home girl Sun-Shyne Reels linked me up with Azi Aishling and the love and respect was there. We went right into the studio and made a couple bangers, bringing a new energy to the mixtape. Working with Slim (of 112) is MORE than an honor! To get the opportunity to work with one of the most unique male R&B voices of our lifetime was a last minute miracle that wouldn’t have happened without the help of Domenik Nati (www.NatiAgency.com). That, and my man Chris Phillips of C Phill Entertainment coming through with just the right sound for the record made this a go.”

Going into the production, it’s obvious that WarChyld has an ear that doesn’t go towards the usual, but immediately feels familiar. The most interesting thing was the mix of sounds brought together. “I worked with a variety of producers that brought their own elements and styles. I al-ready had a handful of producers I worked with steady, like my cousin Tu-Beats (“The Streets Is Back”, “Billion Dollar Baby”), my homie Cain Mayne (“Google Me Now”, “My Last Day”) who I have a few place-ments with, and my cousin Letter M Letter R (“Shots Threw My Win-dow”) who himself is an artist (featured on “World Of Fantasy”) that’s lyrically sick and stepped out his lane to make me things that I not just love but I need. That showed me that this thing is real. It’s a good energy to work with producers who are not only family to me, that understand what I’m looking for on a track. The Street Racers (“Something Inside You”, “Rock Roll”) hit me on Twitter saluting my grind, and sent over a couple records I fell in love with. My homie Chuks of 5 Star Beats I met thru Big NeX. He sent over a couple tracks that was absolute fire, including the intro. Automatic fire. It felt really really good to work with these producers because these cats are talented. I think when people hear it they’ll agree.”

The energy on the mixtape is one that his fans have come to recognize. When WarChyld first started making waves with his singles “My Chev-rolet” and “Google Me Now” (the latter earned placements on Oxygen Network’s The World According To Paris andMTV’s Caged) he started to find himself getting labeled. Listening to the records you can hear that professionalism and polish, but the grit scratches away much of the pret-tiness leaving the truth as the only beauty you’ll get. “I’ve always been a street artist, I just had to do certain things to get my name in certain places. I don’t feel like I’ve transitioned, I just gave them the tracks they needed for those television shows. TV placements are a good thing, but this is where I started and I’ve always represented that essence. It’s a process, and I did this a reminder that you might here my shit on a Paris Hilton show but don’t get it fucked up: this is what I do. I do the streets. I didn’t format this to make it sound like what people say is the streets, I just did what I feel in my heart and my vision at that time. That’s why I think people will like this mixtape. I didn’t give too much thought into what fit and what didn’t, I was carefree about what was on there and just gave yall my heart. It’s deeper than the music, it’s a movement of people that came through the mud and brought something different. That es-sence of the people they forgot about. So I want people to understand before they open this gift…it IS a gift.”

If they listened, I think they understood.

Slim “The Honey Moon” by Lilli Angel.Words or songs cannot express how Marvin Scandrick also known as “Slim” of 112 from Atlanta , Ga. , has gracefully impacted the R& B Soul/ Hip Hop world. “Slim” was the lead vocalist and a quarter of the R&B Soul/ Hip Hop group of four gentlemen once signed to the Bad Boy record label in 1996. The dynamic and chart-topping group is famous for their hits such as Only You, Cupid, Come See Me featuring Mr. Cheeks of the “Lost Boyz” Rap group, Anywhere feat. Lil’ Zane, Na, Na, Na feat. Reggae artist Supercat, Peaches & Cream, and much more. After the group released their Fifth album “Pleasure & Pain” in 2008, “Slim” decided to take the solo path. Since the split he has released the album titled “Love’s Crazy” with blazing hits like “So Fly” feat. Yung Jock and “Good Lovin” feat. Ryan Leslie and Fabolous. His much anticipated sophomore album titled “Cruise Control” is due to be released this year. Slim is an R&B Soul/Hip Hop force to reckoned with and unstoppable need I say more. He has never given up on his craft and his undying love for music. “Slim” has worked with many artists from the music genres of R&B Soul to hardcore Rap and continues to collaborate with artists such as “Warchyld” a new hardcore Rap and dope Lyricist who is next to blow. “Slim” has a sound that is incomparable to any other R&B Soul/ Hip Hop singers of his time, which is the reason behind the “Warchyld” and “Slim” collaboration on the song titled “Honeymoon.” “Slim” brings his sexy R&B Soul, and sultry fly flavor to “Warchyld’s” newest hardcore Rap/Hip Hop mix-tape titled “The Streets is Back,” hosted by “DJ Kay Slay” The Drama King. “Slim” has accomplished so much in the music business as a group and as a solo artist, and for those reasons Fresh Magazine had to have an interview. He’s a true R&B Soul/ Hip Hop legend in the making.

how did you know you could sing? And when did you find your love for music and passion for sing-ing?I was young, About 10 when I realize I could sing. My mom and her friends use to have me sing all thetime. I always loved music because I use to play the cello in middle andhigh school.

Do you feel that the music business has changed you or your lifestyle in any way? And if so how?Yes it’s changed me. Although I was very young when I started in the music business, I have learned how to work! I value family time a lot more.

Do you still communicate with the others from the group “112” Q, Daron, or mike? And will there be any collaborations in the near future with either of you? Right now we are touring together.

Do you have any favorite songs by the group “112” and as “Slim” the solo artist? And if so which ones are they and Why? “Cupid” and “So Fly” because I think they are “timeless songs”

Your first solo album titled “Love’s crazy” was very impressive what can your fans expect to hear from

your sophomore album titled “cruise control”? Aggressive tracks, classic lyric and music thatmakes people feel good!

You’ve done collaborations with so many artists such as Notorious B.I.G., mr. cheeks, mase, Su-percat, Ronald Isley, Lil Kim, Faith, Ryan Leslie, Fabolous, and Warchyld, Is there any other artists inthe near future that you would like to work with? And if so who? I have a long list but to name a few Kanye,Baby Face,David Guetta and Andre 3000

How does it feel to have been in the music busi-ness for this long, still be able to remain true to your fans, and upgrade yourself as you’ve done? It’’s a Blessing!!! I’m enjoying the ride and I am excited about what’s to come.

So what are your lyrics like on “Warchyld’s” song titled “honeymoon” for the mixtape “The Streets Is Back” due to be released this halloween? Sexy...a little something for the ladies

As your fans can see you are here to stay, so what can they expect from mr. “Slim” of 112 in the near future? New music and performances for my fans.

CAPONELily Angel’s Interview

Do you feel that the rap game has changed you in any way today since you first became a mainstream rap artist in 1996? And if so how?Definitely did just being able to experience everything the game had to offer, being over-seas showed me a whole new light on hip hop made me more respectful of the craft. Right now I’m not that naive 19 year old just getting in the game I’m a polished veteran. I’ve learned a lot gained a lot also, lost a lot but that comes with the territory you dig. All I can do is keep it moving and thank god for every moment! I just wanted to be down then now I’m trying to bring other dudes in the same way I was brought in. I haven’t changed my life has!

If there is anything that you could’ve done differently in your career what would it be? And why?One thing I’ve learned in my career is never deal with that term. I believe everything happens for a reason. I went to jail for a reason. I guess it may have taken away from my success but it made me a man. I may have not survived the streets on the path I was going. I’m truly content on the way my life and career turned out. I came home a millionaire thanks to Chris Lighty, and may he rest in peace. Things like that happen for a reason.

his kids are literally my bloodline. So for all the “CNN” fans out there we are coming.

The question I’m sure all of your fans would like to know is, “Do you miss being in the hardcore Rap duo (CNN) with Noreaga? And if so why?Why should I miss that? We are still here strong. We’re not a couple we’re brothers that argue and go through things like any two human beings in life and business together. The perception is that “CNN” is no longer a group but we speak regularly give each other advice, laugh, joke, and everything that normal G’z do. We made history in music and in life. We sometimes agree to disagree but we will never stop giving fans music together. We are cooking a whole brick right now. He on his solo path as well as I, but nothing has changed. We just recently put out a few records and videos together plus gearing up for our world tour in January. Life is good and his kids are literally my bloodline. So for all the “CNN” fans out there we are coming.

Do you think you are better in your Rap ca-reer as a solo artist or a duo? It’s like this as a group we made history and as a solo artist I’m history in the making. I still feel like a new artist when it comes to my solo ca-reer because I still haven’t gotten my feet wet but its coming. I’m about to pull a Titty Boi/“2 Chainz” move on them you dig. I’m just one re-cord away!!!

Would you like to do anymore singles for video games since your past (2004) exclusive

Hip-Hop/Rap Artist “Capone” born Kiam Akasi Holley hailing from Queensbridge, New York, who is also known as half of the hardcore rap duo (CNN) with Noreaga. Capone is now featured on Makaveli Music Group’s newest signed Hip Hop/Rap artist “Warchyld.” Warchyld has a new mixtape titled “The Streets Is Back” hosted by the NY’s famous “DJ Kay Slay” The Drama King, due to drop this October on Halloween. Capone has been seen in the past on the movie “Paper Soldiers” starring the Comedian /Actor Kevin Hart and State Property’s own Beenie Siegel. He has also done collaborations with other hardcore rap artists such as Nas, AZ, and Mobb Deep just name a few. Capone has gone solo in his career since and has released albums titled, “Da Streets Vol. 1” (2004), “Pain, Time, & Glory” (2005), “Menace 2 Society” (2006), “Revenge Is A Promise” (2009, and his latest single “ Just That Good” Featuring Money Malc just released this year. TRU Magazine has had a chance to catch up to him for a recent interview to give his fans some insight into his career as an artist and this is what he had to say.

single “I Need Speed” for EA Games “Need For Speed Underground 2” soundtrack? And if so which video games would you like to be featured on?I’ve done a lot of video game work besides that. I love watching kids notice me from games I’ve been associated with and not my music. I have kids and they have friends who don’t listen to my music but use me in the games. Right now I would love to be involved in every game pos-sible, they pay very well you dig. (Lol). Their checks pay this year and next year’s bills (ha-ha) but aside from that the experience and the look on the kids’ faces is priceless.

You appeared on Ron Artest a.k.a Meta World Peace album titled “My World,” Is there any other artists or celebrities you would like to work with today? And if so why? There’s a bunch of artist I want to work with Ron aka Meta is my cousin so that was a no brainer. I’ve worked with just about everyone from my generation of hip hop now it’s time to tap into this new league of all stars. I got A$AP Rocky , Big Sean , French Montana , Kendrick, Vado, Nipsy Hustle, Meek Millz, Miguel, and a few othercats on my radar right now so believe my solo album will be a movie. I liked J Cole until he pulled that s*** with Diggy feel me. I’m from Queens, Queensbridge to be ex-act and Rev Run is family. If you look at

34

him and Diggy in the video that was big, Diggy probably couldn’t even ride a bike then that’s how far we go back, but it’s all good I’ll leave that matter alone.

I know it was some years back but, what was it like being on the set of the movie “Paper Soldiers” with Kevin Hart, Beenie Siegel, Noreaga, and Others? We had a lot of fun. Can’t forget to mention my boy Smokey from Harlem he made that movie what it was as well as we did. At that time everybody was on top of their game. I knew Kevin would be a star he had us laughing through the whole shoot. We had to stop mad times it was a surreal experience. Kevin, I, and Smokey, also did the movie “Death of a Dynasty” also a same Damon Dash film that was another hilarious moment in my movie career. I think that movie was better than Paper Soldiers in my book and very hilarious. Kevin Hart played like three different parts (omg) I was on the floor the whole time. Everybody had multiple roles on some Eddie Murphy “Coming to America” s***. Pure comedy Ms Jones was also in the movie and the comedian Capone that’s my dude right there.

What can your fans expect from you in the near future as far as music and/or acting?Music wise I’m working on a ton of things, getting myself situated as well as the whole thugged out camp Imam thug, Glacierz, Young Haiti and my newest addition Money Malc. You know we are going to get more “CNN” albums done and for those that don’t know “War Report 2” is out there check it out. It kind of went under the radar but its classic material on there I guarantee everybody will love it once they hear it. We have Busta Rhymes, Rae’kwon, Nas, and Kymani Marley aka Biggs from the movie “Shottas” it’s just another clas-sic. As far as acting I’m in a new TV series called “Brotherhood of Silver” coming out early next year on cable similar to the HBO’s “Wire”. Just working getting my acting skills up, I’ve always been involved in acting since I was a child. I was in a ton of HBO kids’ series when I was about eight years old up until about ten years old. I had my own commercial for the NY Mets and United Way for home-less kids when I was thirteen that came on TV every morning before school and after school until I was about fifteen. They took it off the air when I caught my first bid at fifteen but I’ve been Hollywood, I was just being Hollyhood you dig.

How would you describe your lyrical content and/or the message you would like to convey to your fans on your latest single “JUST THAT GOOD ft Money Malc”?Classic Queens Flow, it’s just stating that I still got it. I’m still spitting monkey bars that make the streets go bananas when they hear me just getting ready for that shot cause I know it’s coming I’m ready!

How would you describe your verses on the song “The Streets Is Back” on Warchyld’s mixtape hosted by “The Drama King” DJ Kay Slay?Simply put hard as a mf! Sometimes I surprise myself. I’m like fine wine I guess I’m getting better with age. A lot of M.C.’s fell off lyri-cally and they are just getting by so to speak. I still have the passion to write dope s*** I try my best to go in on everything I touch. I may definitely not be the best but I’ll out rap most M.C’s. Yeah I said it!!! I’m not cocky or conceited I’m just convinced. Warchyld is dope I had to give him my all and that’s not the only joint we have together. I go in for my dog we got joints feel me.

“Philly has always been the home of some of the best talent in the world. From the days of Teddy P and the soulful sounds of Philadelphia Inter-national, to the neo-soul movement spawned by Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild, all the way to its historic hip hop from titans Will Smith, The Roots and Beanie Sigel. Enter Letter M Letter R, a producer and emcee that delivers the truth the way it needs to be heard.”Letter M Letter R, where did you get you’re name from?I was the artist formerly known as Mr. Excitement, I was done with the self-proclamations, so I dropped the Excitement and kept the M-R. I’ve heard acro-nyms additional to the Math and Rhetoric that I came up with, like Mentally Retarded, my Aunt Rose gave me that one. The Math because numbers don’t lie...and Rhetoric for the art of speaking and writing ef-fectively.

You toured with KRS-ONE a few years ago, what was that like?Probably the most influential opportunity I’ve had in regards to my music career. I learned more about the business during that brief experience than I could ever have doing it elsewhere. There is a duality you have to embrace at times. You have to remember that your integrity can never be compromised, but you will be presented with choices that arent always easy to make.

You made the transition from rapper to rapper/producer, what prompted the change?I’ve never been a rapper...I’ve always thought of my-self as an artist. My first project “Troubleman: The Mixtape”, the intro was a Marvin Gaye sample that I chopped up myself, no drums, no bass, no instru-mentation. I slowly taught myself the production side

because I wanted original songs and couldn’t get the signature sound I wanted until I did it myself.

Which do you prefer more & why?I think of it as one process these days. I make a track tailored to my sound, write it, record it, and mix it myself.

You promote a lot of positivity in your lyrics even when it’s about negative subjects. How do you keep that energy?Art imitates life, I persevered through my trials and tribulations. The fact that Im here to give my testi-mony keeps me grounded.

You don’t seem to be an industry type dude. What caused the disconnect? The opportunity to see things first hand.

Philadelphia is a wild city. How does this influence your style & sound? My influences stem from my musical background. My father plays for the Delphonics and my uncle for Chubby Checker, so 70’s soul, jazz fusion and the streets of North Philly where I observed it all, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Where do you see your place on hip hop?I’m not a conformist. So its more about where hip

hop is in regards to M-R and that place is in my heart.

Where do you see hip hop going?Hip Hop as a way of life will only go as far as the people who live it. If rappers dictate the trends, are the only acts being promoted and given the oppor-tunities it will probably go back to the underground railroad.

Got anything in the works?Always.

Any last thoughts?Love and respect to my cousin WarChyld for staying true to who he is and what he believes, love to my friends and family who have been my foundation and

I remember the day I fell in love with hip hop. It was in the Spring of ‘91, I heard “ Children’s Story “ by Slick Rick. Before that point I had just listened to old school R&B, and I’d heard songs by The Fat Boys, Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC, and really liked songs like “ I’m the Magnificent ” by Special Ed . But for the first time I wasn’t just listening to it, I was feelin’ it. I liked how I could see the story, even without seeing a video ( back then we aint had no cable ). And yes how he illustrated the story with words caught my attention, but how smooth he spit it, is what made is what made me fall in love with rap.

That along with the fact that I was going on thirteen, I started trying to get at the ladies and writing poetry was my way of trying to be a mack. I realized that I really could write, and that writing stayed as just that until ‘94 my ninth grade year when I met this chick named Katriva. She could sing, rap and looked like a short Janet Jackson ( fo’ real, fo’ reeeal ). But she helped me realize, that I was falling in love with the hip hop in her, and not her. That year, Outkast released, Southernplayalsticadillacfunkymusak, the first time that I felt that the south was represented outside of booty shakin’ music. All throughout junior high, I was jamming’ J.T Money, Poison Clan, Luke and Hometeam, and that gave me my southern pride, but it seemed that the only thing that the rest of the world knew Miami for was Bass Music and Outkast was finally showing the world another side of the South. That year I started turning my poetry into lyrics. And I met up with a group of more experienced rappers named D.E.M, that put me through basically a Rap Boot Camp. They focused on showing me breath control, stage presence and ridin’ the beat. While I worked on that, I was picking up on the strengths of each of their flo‘s, making me into a Hip Hop Frankenstein of different styles . I learned the voice command from D-Style, the smoothness of M-finesse and the energy from Lord Explict. Over the next couple of years I kept growing, and feeding off of all the talent around me, like my home girl Shawa, that‘s just straight ass up & down hood all day. ( That’s my heart fa’real though ) In ’98, I went off to FAMU in Tallahassee, and knew I couldn’t be fucked wit,,,, lyrically, I was a damn beast. At least I thought, until I met up with a rapper / producer / studio engineer - ( all around hustler ), named Byrdchest. He was in a group at the time called Nappyheadz, which included group mate T-Pain, and this cat is a whole other story. But anyway, Byrd showed me how to break up my lyrics into bars, use emotion, but still be cool, and how to work studio equipment.

Since then, I moved back to Miami, built my own studio, started to work with a new generation of younger artist’s like my lil’ sister Kiaya Canae, and continued to get even sicka’ on every beat my voice meet. ARSO
