Well done. Remembrance Day – Friday 11/11/16 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is a significant day in our History. Originally known as Armistice Day it was the day of surrender of the German Forces in 1918 in World War One. Later it became Remembrance Day to honour all those who gave their life in order to give us the democratic freedom we have today. Thankyou to Mr Dundas Taylor who will participate in our Remembrance Day minute silence ceremony. Lest we forget. Frenchville recognises and remembers the sacrifice of those who have served and who continue to serve in our armed forces. Thankyou. Health Alert In the interests of keeping the school community informed we have had a reported case of scabies in the last week. Please seek support from a medical practitioner if you have concerns about signs and symptoms. Dance Party Thanks Today we want to give a huge shout out to parent Kelly Mills. Kelly is one of the faces of our school discos and dance parties. She has purchased the chips and drinks for this event for many years, which is a major job with up to 1000 cans of softdrink at times, all carried in Kel’s car and organised for our students’ enjoyment. Kelly’s youngest child Liam finishes with Frenchville at the end of this year and so the dance party last Friday night marked Kelly’s final contribution to this much loved part of our school calendar. A huge thank you Kel for all you have done for us over the years. Total money raised from the Dance Party was $3466.46 Thanks also to Karen Smith and her band of helpers for ticket sales and to Marita McArthur for her Parent Club support. Thanks to our staff team for providing supervision, to Mr Smith for DJing and to our facilities staff for setting up. Thanks also to our sausage cookers – all money raised from sausage sizzle goes towards year six camp 2017. Thanks for our Tuckshop Staff and Volunteers Who can imagine our schools without tuckshops? School tuckshops play an important role in school life and provide students with nutritious, tasty and affordable food. Tuckshop Day is held each year in November and gives school communities the opportunity to show their appreciation for the work tuckshops workers do. We’d like to take this opportunity to recognise this day and thank our tuckshop convenors Chris Hills and Rhonda Green and our parent, grandparent and community volunteers for the high level of service they provide each day. Firestorm Magazine Once again we are in the process of producing our annual school magazine, FIRESTORM. The “Firestorm” is full of annual highlights from Frenchville, including a page for every class. The photographic and editorial content has largely been done by our junior Firestorm reporters. The final copy will be professionally printed. The general project consent form families complete on enrolment provides sufficient permission to use students’ names, images and/or work in the publication. Without a form on file your child/children cannot appear in the magazine. The signed permission form does not guarantee inclusion in the publication. Order Forms will be in next week’s newsletter.

Sport Update: The weather bureau is predicting a heat wave on Friday with temperatures tipped to be at 40 degrees. We may need to rethink our sports participation if these temperatures eventuate. In any case, students need to come prepared with hats, water bottles and to be regularly drinking water. We will provide ice if sport goes ahead. Updates will be posted on Facebook.
