Superintendent’s message

wE ArE A LIttLE morE thAn a month into the new school year for our nearly 45,000 K-12 students and there is much that is new and exciting to tell you about with our Collier County Public Schools’ Adult and Community Education program. Among other things, we are offering a series of short courses during the Fall 2 term. These are one, two, and four-week offerings with classes starting on various dates throughout the session.

As always, please peruse this catalog to find a very generous sampling of new courses including some online courses for you to consider. Additionally, we are also offering special free events to you as a community member including helpful career transition workshops (November 5th and December 3rd) and a practice session for our very popular English Pronunciation Course (October 24th). Florida In-State ($30) tuition EligibilityTo receive the Florida In-State tuition rate, you must be classified as a Florida Resident for tuition purposes. To verify this classification, you must provide a minimum of two pieces of current (non-expired) evidence issued at least 12 months prior to the first day of class. Additional documents may be required. If the student is under age 24, the documents of the student’s parents MAY be required!

Florida out-of-State ($120) tuitionIf you are not eligible for the in-state tuition, your will need to pay $120.

gED testwhat are some of the benefits? Earning the GED Diploma allows you to enroll in college, obtain a better job, and experience the satisfaction of attaining your high school credential. The program also offers education and career planning, as well as job search assistance. The GED is recognized by the Florida Legislature as the “State of Florida High School Diploma.”

GED testing DatesTo take the GED test you must pre-register in person and pay the following testing fee: $70 for the complete test; $14 for each individual test. Testing fees may be paid by cash or check. You must show any government issued (U.S. or foreign) photo identification. Testing fees are non-refundable.

In person Please call 239-377-1234 for office hours to register in person at our ACE office at Barron Collier High School (5600 Cougar Dr, Naples). Space permitting, in-person registration is available on the first day of class, at the class location, for one hour before the class begins. Registrations are no longer processed in the classroom. We encourage you to sign up in advance to minimize your wait time and so that a class may not be cancelled due to a lack of enrollment.

CourSE booKS AnD mAtErIALS Instructions for the purchase of books and/or other materials will be included in the course description and are also available from our registration staff.

rEGIStrAtIon ConFIrmAtIonWhen you register online, you will receive a class confirmation and transaction receipt via email after completing your credit card payment. If you register by phone or mail and you include an email address, you will receive an email confirmation and transaction receipt once your registration is processed. If you do not provide an email address, we will mail a confirmation if your registration is received more than 5 business days before the class start date.

CAnCELLED CLASSES/SChEDuLE ChAnGESWe make every effort to maintain the schedule of classes as announced in our catalog. However, we reserve the right to cancel classes, change instructors, switch rooms, and combine classes when necessary. ACE is not bound by printing errors in our publication.

If a class is cancelled or rescheduled you may request a transfer to another section of the same class, another class, an electronic credit voucher, or a refund of your enrollment

fee. Each registered student will be notified by e-mail and/or phone about class cancellations or schedule changes. Please check your student profile to make sure your contact information is current.

rEFunDSRefunds for classes will not be given after the first class. However, if you withdraw from a class for any reason, a pro-rated credit voucher, based on the date it was requested during the session, may be obtained for use toward any future class fee. Credit vouchers issued on or after June 1, 2013, will be valid for 12 months. To request a voucher contact the Adult & Community Education Office at (239) 377-1234.

Full refunds are given if we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment.

Please note the following special circumstances:• Materials fees and textbook purchases are nonrefundable once class has started.• There are no refunds for courses that are delivered via our online vendor, Ed2Go.

Refunds are not issued for missed classes and classes are not pro-rated.

CLASS trAnSFErSTransfers between classes are subject to class availability and must be requested before the second scheduled class. Please contact the ACE office to request a transfer.
