Frem Group’s environmental policy is applied by the staff too. Our offices utilise FG Technology (see page 158) to ensure a minimum use of energy. We store the computer hard drives in storage cupboards instead of placing them underneath the desks. We are also proud to be working in a building that holds a BREEAM* (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) ‘Very Good’ rating. BREEAM sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe environmental performance of buildings and communities.

Site surveys form an integral part of successful installations, as good foundations assure a smooth running of a project. Surveys are always undertaken by staff members who have experience either making or installing furniture so that potential issues will be seen before they arise.

All aspects of delivery and installation are always overseen by an experienced Project Manager, who is familiar with the project from concept to completion. Our goal is always perfect delivery.

Frem Group Manufacturing is based in three locations: Northampton, Haverhill and Wakefield. Screen 5.2 has the flexibility of creating a variety of panels of different heights and widths making the product truly versatile. At 70mm this aluminium framed system is both rigid and robust with the capability of accommodating heavy weights. Our range of acoustic screens, ceiling elements and wall panels all provide high degrees of absorption to reduce reverberant noise. The broad range of options allow our clients to control reverberation without compromising the desired aesthetic.

All absorbers are formed from acoustic foam, glass fibre or polyester and are designed to absorb at the frequencies that count. When in doubt, our team of acousticians are available to provide guidance on how best to achieve the desired result.

B = BlockDisrupts the sound path.

All of our screens and pods are laboratory and field tested for their blocking power. Different degrees of privacy can be achieved through the use of screens of varying height and performance. Most of our acoustic screens have both absorption and blocking properties for optimal results.

C = CoverImproves privacy.

In many cases, the problem is not sound, but the lack of sound. Very low sound levels result in a high degree of speech intelligibility between rooms and across open plan working spaces. Our sound masking systems provide that much needed backdrop of sound, reducing the level of intelligibility and, in doing so, increasing the level of speech privacy. They are installed in ceilings and raised flooring and work inconspicuously to produce a low level, easily ignored, background noise. As the levels of ‘good’ sound increase, so does our ability to concentrate.

Screen 5.2 Pods offer a high degree of speech privacy. This is linked to the amount of speech disturbance between two people who are not in conversation with each other. The degree of speech privacy in any situation is established by measurement of the Privacy Index. The Privacy Index is expressed as a percentage where 0 is no privacy and 100 is complete privacy.
