GOVERNMENT DIRECTIONS ‘Better use of the freight network’
• Continue the roll out of Intelligent Transport Systems on the
freeway network, including expanded use of Managed
Motorways on the M1 Freeway, the M80 Ring Road and
other key routes
• Support development of third party transport network
information tools and systems through the DataVic Access
Policy.
• Work cooperatively with other jurisdictions and the NHVR
to encourage a national approach to the take up of new
technologies
• Work with Intelligent Transport Systems Australia to
develop and run freight technology demonstration projects
