Let us remember, for now and for all time,

that freedom starts In our hands, In our hearts, In our minds,

with our internal reality.

Let us remember that freedom begins

with acknowledging what Is and then choosing to be free, taking actions to become free,

to feel free, to allow freedom

and harmony into our lives.

“A Tale Told by an Idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

-Macbeth

Tonight,we look at the past to illuminate our present.

Our Liberation Story teaches us: To aspire to be free;

To rediscover the role of myth as an agent

of catharsis and rebirth; To access our authentic selves;

To liberate our ability to touch others without the yoke of ego or judgement.

Tonight, our seder recasts our ancestral journey,

as our journey so that we may open our hearts and minds to The Beauty that Surrounds Us.

We bless and drink wine with the intention of deepening our awareness.

Tonight we remember those who brought us to the person we have become as we open our

minds and hearts to new ways of being.

The cleansing power of water Moisture

The essence of life, the flow of life.

Washing away hurts, ways of thinking,

ways of being, the things we want to let go of right now.

Allowing through that which has yet to emerge. Making the way

for sacred space.

Karpas

The green vegetable is a symbol of spring, the renewal of life and liberation

of nature from its frozen state of winter. The salt water represents the tears of all people who have suffered oppression. By dipping the parsley in the salt water, we remind ourselves that both the tender greens of the earth and

the salts of the sea were joined together to sustain life. We remind ourselves that in slavery the brine of the tears releases our strength to survive, and that all new life comes

from tears of struggle. May this eating of karpas renew us as springtime

renews the earth.

Every person passes the Aifikoman to another saying:

“In haste we went out of Egypt.”

And the other responds:

“It is true, in haste we went out of Egypt.”

And with that — Please begin your Freedom Journey.

Holy Moses met the Pharaoh Yeah, he tried to set him straight Looked him in the eye, let my people go

Holy Moses on a mountain High above the golden calf Went to get the Ten Commandments Yeah, he's just gonna break them in half

All you zombies hide your faces All you people in the street All you sittin' in high places The pieces gonna fall on you

No one ever spoke to Noah They all laughed at him instead Working on his ark, working all by himself

Only Noah saw it coming Forty days and forty nights Took his sons and daughters with him Yeah, they were the Israelites

All you zombies hide your faces All you people in the street All you sittin' in high places The rain's gonna fall on you

Holy Father, what's the matter Where have all your children gone Sitting in the dark, living all by themselves You don't have to hide anymore

All you zombies show your faces All you people in the street All you sittin' in high places The pieces gonna fall on you

All you zombies show your faces All you people in the street All you sittin' in high places It's all gonna fall on you

Avadim Hayenu L’Pharaoh b’Mitzrayim Va’yotzeinu Adonoy Eloheinu Misham.

We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt. We were taken out of there by God.

As we begin our Freedom Journey we ask:

What is my God Concept?

How do my actions help me reveal Godliness?

How does my Freedom Hero inspire my actions?

What more do I need to do to Free Myself?

Let My People Go!

When Israel was in Egypt’s land,Let My people go!

Oppressed so hard they could not stand,Let My people go!

Go down, Moses,

Way down in Egypt’s land;Tell old Pharaoh

To let My people go!

Refrain

Your foes shall not before you stand,Let My people go!

And you’ll possess fair Canaan’s land,Let My people go!

Refrain

Page 49: Freedom Seder 5776 Final Version

CHORUS: Pharaoh, Pharaoh, whoa baby, let my people go! (2x)

A burnin' bush told me just the other day That I should go to Egypt and say,  "It's time to let my people be free - Listen to God if you won't listen to me!"

CHORUS

Well me and and my people goin' to the Red Sea,  With Pharaoh's best army comin' after me. I took my staff, stuck it in the sand,  And all of God's people walked on dry land. Singin...

CHORUS

Now Pharaoh's army was a-comin' too,  So whattaya think that God did do? Had me take my staff and clear my throat,  And all of Pharaoh's army did the dead man's float.

CHORUS

Well that's the story of the stubborn goat. Pharaoh should've know that chariots don't float. The lesson is simple, it's easy to find,  When God says, "GO!" you had better mind!

Teach Your Children

You who are on the road Must have a code

that you can live by And so become yourself

Because the past is just a good bye

Teach your children well Their father's hell did slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams The one they pick's,

the one you'll know by

Don't you ever ask them why If they told you, you would cry So just look at them and sigh

And know they love you

And you of tender years Can't know the fears

that your elders grew by And so please help them with your youth They seek the truth before they can die

Teach your parents well Their children's hell will slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams The one they pick’s,

the one you'll know by

Don't you ever ask them why If they told you, you would cry So just look at them and sigh

And know they love you

The Second Cup ברוך אתה יי

אלהינו מלך העולם

.בורא פרי הגפן

Thank you, Eternal One, for providing us this wine. With it, we can reduce the inhibitions that we usually feel around each other. With it we can say things which we would ordinarily never

say and do things which we would ordinarily have far too much self-consciousness to do. With it we can transcend our reality and taste of a world only as of yet imagined.

Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam,

Blessed are you, Our Eternal Sovereign, Who creates the fruit of the vine.

This is the Bread of affliction, the poor bread, which the Jews ate in the ancient land of Egypt. Let all who are hungry come and eat. Let all who are in want share in the hope of Passover. As we celebrate here, we join with people

everywhere. This year we celebrate here, next year we celebrate all over the world. Now we are slaves. Next year may we all

be free.

The Hillel sandwich: Artisanal Judaism

Judaism only endures because of the imperative to continually craft local, personal and relevant meaning to it.

Just as the rabbis created a meaningful Judaism for themselves after the destruction of the Temple, so, too, do we,

tonight in Venice, craft a Judaism which is living and personally vibrant.

We eat our Hillel sandwich to honor the continuity of Jewish Creativity, Innovation and Re-Enchantment.
