Week 2 was G-R-E-A-T!OurscholarsandServantLeaderInternsreturned
onMondaywithtonsofenergyandexcitementto
startanotherweekhereattheTempleatFreedom
School.
Week2kickedoffwithaspecialHarambeeguest,
KathyKantner,whowasjoinedbyHerscheyLiss,a
4thgraderfromLanaiRoadElementarySchool
(LAUSD)whocametoaccompanyherread-aloudbyplayingthetrumpet.Thekidsweresoexcitedto
havelivemusicplayedrightinfrontofthem!Other
HarambeegueststhisweekincludedSteveMeister,
anattorneywhowowedthekidswithhisfunny
legalstoriesandanimateddisplayofstory-telling,
andElanaZimmerman,ProgramDirectoratValley
BethShalomTemple.
Week2'stheme"Icanmakeadifferenceinmy
family"wasdisplayedthroughoutourwonderful
curriculumbooksthatincludedAllFamiliesare
SpecialandTheGoodGarden.Classroomactivities
includedrole-playingtoactoutthemesofthe
books,creatingalternateendings,andmaking
muralsaboutthelessonsandmoralstheylearned
throughthereading.
Scholarsenjoyedawidearrayofafternoon
activitiesincludingareptileshowwheretheycould
petandholda40lbsnake(!),andlearninghowto
communicateabouttheirfeelingstoeachotherduringourBoysandGirlsclubactivity.Weended
theweekwithanaturehikeatTreePeopleand
scholarslearnedallaboutpreservingtheir
environmentsandrecycling.
Wecantwaitforanotherweekandhopeyouwill
comeandvisitsoon!
