Subcutaneous immunoglobulin is infused slowly into the fatty layer underthe skin as opposed to IVIg, which is delivered through a vein. SCIg istypically administered on a more frequent basis than IVIg, which providesstable blood levels, decreases side effects and improves overall quality oflife. The best part is you can infuse in the comfort of your own home!

Needle LengthIf the selected needle is too short and the opening istoo close to the dermis, site irritation and leakingmay occur. The opening of the needle should be wellwithin the sub-q tissue. Needle length should bedetermined according to how much sub-q tissueyou have. Both 9 and 12 mm needles tend to workwell with average sized patients; while 6 mm needlesmay be needed for very thin adults and children.Similarly, larger patients may require 14 mm needles.

Dry PrimingNeedles should be inserted dry as medicationmay cause site irritation.

Needle DesignHIgH-Flo’s backcut needle tip minimizes tissuedamage, scarring and local site reactions. The exible hinged buttery wings make for easyinsertion and removal and include a safety closurefor reduced needle stick injuries.
