Working Families: YOU may
be eligible for FREE tax help
Each year, many low-income individuals and families miss out on money available through
tax credits. The Earned Income Tax Credit
(EITC) is available for certain people who work and have low wages. A tax credit usually means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of tax you owe. The EITC may also give you a refund.
If you meet the qualifications below, you can get FREE help filing your income taxes with volunteer counselors trained in cooperation with the IRS.
How do I know if I qualify? To receive
the EITC on a 2010 tax return, you must: Have a valid Social Security number
Have lived in the United States for more than half the year
Have earned income
Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien
Be between the ages of 25 and 65 or have a qualified dependant
Meet earned income/adjusted gross income levels; see page 2
------------------------------------------ Bring the following items with you: Copy of 2009 income tax return/s
W-2 forms from each employer
Unemployment compensation statements
All 1099 forms showing interest/dividends; documentation showing original purchase price of assets sold
SSA-1099; 1099-MISC; 1099-R
All forms indicating federal income tax paid
Dependent-care-provider information such as name, employer, ID, SSN
All receipts of canceled checks if itemizing deductions
Social Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents
Copy of signed rent certificate

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR EITC IN 2010?
To qualify for EITC in 2010, earned income and adjusted gross income must each be less than:
$43,352 (48,362 married filing jointly) with three or more qualifying children
$40,363 ($45,373 married filing jointly) with two qualifying children
$35,535 ($40,545 married filing jointly)
with one qualifying child
$13,460 ($18,470 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children
Maximum credit for eligible filers:
$5,666 with three or more qualifying children
$5,036 with two qualifying children
$3,050 with one qualifying child
