Whitefi sh Mountain ResortLocated near Glacier National Park, The Big Mountain is a year-round resort offering skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, tennis, horseback riding and concerts. Located north of Whitefi sh on Hwy 487. Lodging, restaurants, entertainment. (800) 858-5439
Flathead LakeFlathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River and is a beautiful playground for water sports enthusiasts. Boating, fi shing, sailing, kayaking and wildlife watching. Located south of Kalispell off Hwy 93.
The Conrad MansionVisit the most beautifully preserved pre-1900 mansion in Montana and experience the elegance of a bygone era. Three fl oors completely restored and furnished to their original beauty. Open Tuesday–Sunday (closed Mondays) for guided tours May 15–October 15. Wild Horse Island State ParkThe largest island in Flathead Lake, Wild Horse is a landmark rich with history. It preserves an endangered palouse prairie environment and is home to Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, full curl rams, trophy mule deer, eagles, osprey, wild horses and other critters, as well. Some of the best watchable wildlife in Montana. (406) 837-5617
Izaak Walton InnNewly renovated historic railroad inn. Built in 1939, this half-timbered inn doubles as an informal railway museum. Railroad memorabilia and Glacier Park mementos. Lodging and restaurant facilities. Located in Essex at the southern tip of Glacier National Park. Open daily. (406) 888-5700
Going-to-the-Sun RoadA scenic landmark crossing Glacier National Park between West Glacier and St. Mary. The 50-mile paved road was built in the 1930’s and is considered a National Landmark. The road is narrow, steep and winding with pullouts for viewing. Travelers should plan to spend 2-3 hours to complete the distance. Inquire at Park entrance stations regarding construction delays and vehicle size restrictions.
Museum of the Plains IndianRich collection of historic arts created by tribal people of the Northern Plains. Five - screen multimedia presentation. Open daily 9 a.m.– 4:45 p.m. during summer. Located at junction of Hwy 2 and Hwy 89 west of Browning. Admission fee charged. (406) 338-2230
National Bison Range18,000-acre national wildlife refuge. Home to buffalo, elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, bighorn sheep and pronghorn sheep. 19-mile scenic drive offers visitors best opportunity to view wildlife. Visitor center and picnic area. Stumptown Historical Society MuseumHoused in the historic Great Northern Railway Depot, the museum includes many railroad artifacts as well as community memorabilia and photographs. Open daily, please call for hours. 500 Depot St. #101, Whitefi sh. (406) 862-0067

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo JumpDesignated as a World Heritage Site, this interpretive centre demonstrates how Native people developed into some of the greatest hunters of all times. Head-Smashed-In is among the largest and best preserved buffalo jump sites. Located 18 miles northwest of Ft. Macleod. Open daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m. (403) 553-2731
