obituarY: Joann Groote aukeS, waukee On July 9, 2014, Joann Groote Aukes, 84 of Waukee, went to be with her Savior in Heaven. She passed on peace-fully at her home in Waukee with her husband Virgil by her side. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Faith Lutheran Church in Adel with interment at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Cemetery northeast of Wellsburg, IA. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Joann is survived by her husband Virgil; sons Dean (Michele) Aukes of Sherman, TX and John (Tracy) Aukes of Adel; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister Carol Akin of Grundy Center.
